By Perfect Blue Go To PostWe gonna move Cucurella to midfield #believe
Should have two good left backs anyway.
With pre-season finished how does everyone feel about their clubs preparation for the year ahead?
United are coming from a very low base, but I'm encouraged by what I've seen. It's clear that our players are now being drilled tactically. We're pressing and counter pressing in an intense but organised fashion.
Were also seeing an actual attacking structure.
Players know where to be when someone is on the ball. They're positioning themselves in optimal areas to receive a pass and also where the next player to receive the ball will be. We're able to progress the ball up the pitch much quicker now.
Things won't looks as good in competitive games as opposition is far more intense and organised. We'll see lots of mistakes from United so it's still a new system which will probably to the best part of the season to bed in. We're also missing a lot of quality at striker and in central midfield. But I'm happy with what I've seen so far.

By n8 dogg Go To PostDon’t get why City won’t pay the 50 for Cucurella. They offered 40m. What is 10m to them? Still cheaper than Mendy and only 20m more than they got for Zinchenko, for a 24 year old who could be part of the side for another 5/6 years. Seems short-sighted if it’s just an optics thing.
Chelsea buying him suggests Chilwell hasn’t really recovered from his injuries.
City are a financially responsible club, they won't live beyond their means.

The window has been a 6/10 for us, but of course it isn't over and I expect us to add two more attacking names. It is disappointing that we publicly stated the goal for the window was to add attacking players and we haven't done it, but there has been a LOT of important stuff behind the scenes (Dan Ashworth appointment, CEO appointment, training ground upgrades) so overall we've done very well in all areas.
Pope is an upgrade on Dubravka, Targett was great for us on loan so that's a smart signing, Botman has looked really good in preseason.
It's a very exciting time but we still have a lot of work to do in the next month, we're very short of quality in attacking options.
By Cleff Go To PostWith pre-season finished how does everyone feel about their clubs preparation for the year ahead?I expect pain and another poor ass season. We didn’t do nearly enough in the market to be optimistic

I am about 70% happy with where the club is on the pitch.
Still need a midfield signing and it seems we are playing the game of waiting for deadline day to make Leicester sell for cheap, which might be dangerous.
We still need proper RB cover at the level of Zinchenko.
The club is also targeting a winger still, so we need to see where that goes.
I am not confident in our backup goalkeeper. Would much rather Leno stay, and think he deserved another chance after some very dodgy performances from Ramsdale late in the season.
I think our first 11 has a strong claim to be the 3rd or 4th best in the league, with a strong claim for 3rd if we play the way Arteta wants. I still think our squad depth is 5th, which ultimately determines where you end up. So bring in Tielemans and either a RB or winger, and I think he will have a squad capable for 3rd.
And regardless of any incomings, I expect 15 points out 15 before we face United as we have four home fixtures. If we win that, we then have two more very winnable games before Spurs and Liverpool, which are both at home. We also have City at home before the World Cup. We have a pretty nice fixture list, so I hope we get as many points as possible before the World Cup because I am expecting players to get injured there.
However, I am disgusted with the club off the pitch. Rather we just send Partey to the stands and pay him rather than see him play again. Will be interesting to see the reception Partey gets when We host Leicester. I am sure their fans will boo him and I really hope our fans don’t try to give him. an extra cheer as a result. Will be extra interesting when we face Bournemouth and United.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostWe gonna move Cucurella to midfield #believeHe can play/has played left midfield a fair bit at Getafe
By Cleff Go To PostWith pre-season finished how does everyone feel about their clubs preparation for the year ahead?8.3/10
Wish the Frenkie situation was sorted out. And wish we had a right back. And wish some of the trash got sold like pjanic or depay. Otherwise very happy.
I think we’ll have an odd season where some players will shine individually because they can play in Ten Hag’s system - Sancho, Fred, Martinez, Malacia - and some might flop because they will struggle to adapt - Rashford, Bruno, Ronaldo, Maguire.
By Cleff Go To PostWith pre-season finished how does everyone feel about their clubs preparation for the year ahead?IF we get FDJ and a striker

I fancy us to stem the tide as time passes and we become more adept at Haag Ball.
Our only weakness right now is squad depth.
Its going to be a rough season.
Thanks everyone :)
Generally pretty good. I’m excited to see us do something different, even if it’s going to take a while to click fully. The predictability was a fair criticism after the CL final, but it had been a problem long before that.
I’ve missed the days of us having a Torres-esque centre forward, and Nunez looks like he’s got the raw attributes to be just that.

By Cleff Go To PostWith pre-season finished how does everyone feel about their clubs preparation for the year ahead?7.5/10 though still need a backup ST. Rudi and Tcho are very exciting signings.
By Plasma Go To PostI had such high hopes for Torreira and he was such a disappointing signing.
Think it's fair to say Mislintat didn't work out well for us.
Mislintat bears responsibility but the player did himself no favours. Can’t even get good money for some of these players ffs.
Happy birthday, Feorax!
Very concerned.
So far only one 1 signing has looked like a good buy, Hidemasa Morita, Japanese international that played for Santa Clara, very classy midfielder who can fight for possession despite not being that big.
St. Juste was our most expensive signing and has yet to play a game due to injury, Trincão is still getting his form back, Rochinha has been below average but he was cheap so whatever, still not sure about Franco Israel as a keeper as he hasn't been really tested and there wasn't much he could do on the goals he conceded.
Is absolutely ridiculous that we are really starting the season with just 1 striker. Not looking great on the pre season friendlies and we have a fucking hard start of the season, we could be completely fucked and on serious trouble in the league before the end of August.
You think I might be exaggerating but first game of the season is away at Braga and the third game is away at Porto. The way they are looking and the way we looked, I wouldn't be shocked if we lost both and being 6 points already would be terrible, Porto only dropped 10 on the whole league last year.

you lot seem to like re-signing players.
always hate it when sunderland do it. got a bit carried away with defoe but in the end it helped solidify it for me: never go back

It depends a bit. When Delaney or Cornelius (he already did it once!) are ready to come back I'm rock hard.
Vavro is one of our best players now. Which says a lot about the rest of the shit our manager and director of sport brought in i guess.
Ndoye came back and secured us a league title despite barely being able to run anymore. Also helped us go very far into Europa league
Nicolai Jørgensen an absolute disaster. But expected that, was mostly backup and only gave him 5 months. So fair enough.
Ankersen dog shit. Should never have done it,and he got a long contract. Thanks ståle. (insert troll footballz twitter video of him scoring that own goal)

So 50% of the victory is Dutch.
Congrats Bud.

Huh
Although I feel like it's a bit early for him to retire but whatever. More important that he leaves anywhere. Mingueza sold too which is gr8. Would be great if Pjanic, Braithwaite, Umtiti and Depay left/got loaned out/sold too but just can't see it happening.
