Raphinha always seemed like a player that would be nice to get once we got all our other business sorted, I've found it a bit odd that we seem to have been prioritising him and Martinez when we need a CM.
eh, bump in the road but hopefully this means the martinez deal is done soon since we dont need the raphina money anymore

Love me some good gazumping.
Chelsea new front three next season : Sterling - Neymar - Raphinha. Highest take-ons numbers in the league incoming.

By Laboured Go To Post@UnitedBros @inkyLiterally just finished reading the article and watching the clips. Seems a good buy if LVG doesn't threaten him in a call tonight lool. He looks a proper LB in the making.
Blind's progressive passes per 90 is obscene. He's exactly the player we've been missing for years. And we actually had him in the side.
Another for the Fuck Mourinho pile.

I wonder how Mourinho made him unable to ever defend a set piece well, but he did. What a legend.
or maybe he's just proper eresdivision defender quality
I mean, Blind was a decent gadget player. Could play CB, LB and DM but at his height he was never going to work for Mou, the guy who would love to build a team of 11 Huths.
He would not work at CB in the prem at all, and that was clear, and we haven't had a decent midfield to partner with since before Froggie retired.

I mean, neither in an ideal world.
But given I don't think he's top level, we have a lot of CBs that I think we'll struggle to shift atm and we need a RW more for this system I suppose Anthony.
I'd really like an RB and/or a very good DM to round out the FdJ and Eriksen thing.

Idk, I just can't get that excited by Martinez, especially at that price. Hope I'm wrong obvs.
i wonder how bosz must feel. malacia wanted to go to lyon because of him.
bosz got out-balded by erique tenne haque.
where is larry david to make sense of all of this.
Blind is a great player. But he has his shortcomings in defensive play. He’s mainly just slow. But his vision and forward thinking are a class on it’s own. He works great for us since we attack 90% of the game. But if he’s not paying attention we can get overrun on his side of the pitch.
By Laboured Go To PostI mean, neither in an ideal world.I think Martinez (and Timber before LVG got in his ears) is to provide cover for CB/LB.

never had the makings of a premier league athlete

His success rate in the air is statistically very good, and there aren't that many teams that concentrate their attacks through arial threat these days (especially not the top ones). But still I'd be slightly worried at first.

Please 💀💀
He was average at best in the PL for you, him doing well back in the...*pause for emphasis*...Eredivisie means nothing.
Think Blind is a classic case of someone who works well in a possession team (see e.g. Ajax / Netherlands) but is (for obvious reasons) shit in a more counter attacking team (see e.g. Mou's United).

And in any kind of system that ever demands you to defend, it only just for a bit. Luckily in Ajax he doesn't need to
By Willkiller Go To PostPlease 💀💀United has lacked a player who can progress the ball from defence or midfield since Carrick retired. That's exactly what Blind does better than most. We never should have sold him even with his shortcomings, because what he offered far outweighed those negatives

The sudden Blind redemption is insane to me. I've said it many times before, but usually a player being a joke on a team like United is something to be enjoyed, but Blind was actually upsetting to look at. He wasnt even average, he was shit. Go back and look at the goals you coneeded back then with him on, and see how many he was directly involved with, or how many where he just wasnt anywhere where he was supposed to.
Or just go look at that Spurs comeback against 10 hack in the semi final.
Having a ball playing defender is absolutely needed today, unless you are just aiming for survival. But not at the cost of someone who is that terrible a defender. He is the definition of an Eredvision defender.

he's a good footballer, but that's about it--and there is no shame in that. but he's just not suited to the premier league.
the most supreme dutch defender right now is de vrij.

He certainly didn't do that better than most at United, and he plays as a left back for Ajax now...avoiding his huge defensive shortcomings that happen to not be exposed as much with him playing for Ajax
You'd think too, with ETH coming in with his raging hardon for Ajax players, if he thought Blind was "exactly the player United need" he's be all over getting him back...right?
