Arsenal’s purchase of Fabio Vieira is a significant pointer to the business they intend for this summer, because a player of his profile and positioning was not necessarily a priority. This suggests, unless they completely changed their thinking (which is not typical of manager Mikel Arteta), the Portuguese youngster was simply too good a prospect to pass up.
Signing him does not necessarily mean Arsenal will stop chasing other targets, or that Vieira’s arrival replaces others in their sights, such as Raphinha, Gabriel Jesus or Lisandro Martinez. Rather, they are keen to press on. The plan, ideally, is to recruit them all.
We're all going to make it, lads.
Ornstein seems to think that Tielemans depends on us shifting another midfielder on which would be really fucking stupid, we desperately need to improve our midfield.
The new reports from Manchester and Barcelona tonight make me believe that we'll get this deal done. I just don't expect confirmation any time soon.
We still need to sell so many players as well. Bailly, Jones, Tuanzebe and maybe AWB all need to go.

By Freewheelin Go To PostSurely Xhaka is going? Why? He’s been one of your best players last season.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostWhy? He’s been one of your best players last season. He was, but I can’t see him functioning in a high press midfield which is what Arteta is looking to do imo
Is there any actual evidence of that besides the fact that he bombed aubemyang out and used to set the cones for Pep?
Used to do my brother's head in in those last few years under Wenger when Arsenal were actually really good at pressing and defending from the front on the odd occasion that they did it

Xhaka needing to leave sounds like bs considering we just got an extra midfielder aside from Tielemans
We're such a failure of an organization, my god.
You'd think we are 1 or 2 players away from challenging and not at the start of a fucking rebuild the way we are negotiating...

Dallas has been selected as World Cup host site, so that means some unlucky keeper is going to have to try and make saves staring into this

There has been no suggestion of wrongdoing by Arsenal or the player himself
By Cleff Go To PostSports betting is fucking dumb. Xhaka either purposefully got a yellow because of betting fraud, or Xhaka got a yellow because Xhaka is Xhaka and people bet on Xhaka because his disciplinary record is whack.
Would a smoking gun text message from Xhaka to better where Xhaka tells the better that he should bet on him getting yellow carded even be proof of fraud? Xhaka is not that unlikely to receive a yellow card. It's comparable to putting a bet in on the top scorer to score a goal. It's very likely to happen and the player has little agency, really, in influencing the outcome. Besides, the betting firm behind Piegate was fined because the bets were too fucking easy to influence by the players. So what's the fucking point?
UK betting culture is fucking dumb. The adverts on TV are annoying and I FUCKING HATE how these kinds of adverts were legalised over here a few months ago. Complete and utter scumbaggery.

Yes, unequivocally
My point is that it's bound to happen anyway sooner or later so it completely trivialises sports betting.
Might as well make FREE MONEY because Xhaka is just doing his thing.
His thing is being a thickheaded cunt of a man

Complete and utter scumbaggery. They legalized sports betting in my province of Ontario and the advertisements are almost nonstop. Then there’s the conflict of interest of sports broadcasts having a devoted betting line segment… so blatant.

It's fucking everywhere and it's inescapable.
I'd BET to say that the suspicious betting activity would be out of the norm, xhaka probably gets a lot of bets that he will get booked. But this might have been more suspicious, like a 400% increase in bets that he will get a yellow after the 75th minute for example.
I also loathe these betting ads. They're everywhere. All the time. On all streams globally and all local tv as well.

I think we need cover at both fullback positions equally as bad. The drop off from the regular starter is just too higher.

When I checked betfair when the original rumour broke. There was something like £70k matched on Xhaka to get booked. I checked the Leicester Man United game an hour before kick off that night and £300 had been matched on the entire market.
Reading Grace Robertson's article on Darwin and there's a list of recent forwards the top 6 have bought. Who tf is Bryan Gil?
God these betting commercials on Dutch tv are getting worse now too. Even Sjaak Swart aka Mr. Ajax is in them now. Dude is 83.

The goals we scored in that game, mamau. Sensational half of football.
Quinn's second is unbelievable technique on a weak foot. Eric Wah dancing through the defence for his first too.
As Harvey Price would say... oh what a day.
