Just because you’re not exactly where you want to be in life doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give 100%. His relationship with the manager, the fans and his teammates will be what’s important in the end. So fingers crossed.
He’s such a good player that it would be idiotic not to sign him if there’s a chance, that’s my opinion.

By Laboured Go To PostLiverpool are going to do a City on us.
Hopefully the tables have turned and Mendes is using us to force Liverpoool to pay 💯

Every club have signed players that have struggled to adapt to a new team, a new county, a new league etc. It can quite often kill a players time at a club. There's a big difference between a player being unsure and having a decision to make and a player publicly talking about his lack of desire for a move and wanting to stay.
When you're starting a rebuild and a new era it seems to make sense to sign players that are excited by the project and want to be there? That's not to say players can't adapt and change there mind if forced into a move, but United have been burned before by having to carry around players that clearly don't want to be there, so why sign someone for huge money that has been talking about not wanting to move?

They’ll still spend significant money on something stupid this summer.
Genuinely think we could see something catastrophic with them in the next few years if they aren’t careful.

Not particularly rooting for something bad to happen to Barca, but would be completely deserved if it happens.
Honestly, if I’m Barca at this point, I think I’m relying on the academy for the next few years. There’s enough senior players for a few years for the new blood to learn from, and honestly, if it were Liverpool in that position, I’d much rather take a few mid table years bringing youth through than watching Aubameyang, Pique and Lewandowski hobble around the pitch in their mid to late 30’s as the club descends further and further into financial ruin.
Last season made it obvious that you don't have to be very good to finish comfortably in the top 4 in Spain as well
By Oddinho Go To PostOr England :PWe finished 3rd without any centre backs 2 seasons ago. That’s the standard.
Is Darwin happening? I’m sorry rvy I know you didn’t want him to leave so soon but at least you’re getting paid well over the odds.
Chances are his knee disintegrates next year and it’s all for naught.

Still struggling to understand how Barcelona, €500m in debt and struggling to pay it, can justify spending €60m on Ferran Torres, offer Lewandowski, Kessie, Christensen et al mega wages and signing on fees, and think they'll get away with it.
Don't forget Alonso too.
I think they were / are banking on either getting the CVC money or some similar / better deal.

By Daz Go To Postarent we also in 500 million in debt
or is there some glazernomics at work?
You have a lot of debt, but your revenue streams are far better I think.
Barca just assumed they could copy the Galactico model and everything they touched would turn to gold. For the life of me I still don’t know what their scouts saw in Coutinho that made them think that would be a good deal. Even I knew that was more likely to fail than not.

Barca is in “we ain’t got it” debt
By Daz Go To Postarent we also in 500 million in debtUnited can pay it back though. Barca have debts that appears to be unsustainable. Multiple high earning players have agreed to temporary wages cuts to help alleviate some pressure. But that's just a short term solution and the money still needs to be paid in full eventually.
or is there some glazernomics at work?
do you think Lewandowski would settle for a nice flat in north London? We even already wear red like his old club
Could be true. No doubt Darwin would choose Liverpool over us though.
Probably a bullshit story however.

By Laboured Go To PostIt… doesn't sound particularly true :lolI have no doubt that Mendes will try to get the most out of this deal. He isn't even Darwin's agent, he was brought in to handle Darwin's sale.

Barca's debt is hilariously short term, so the per annum cost to the club is gigantic. United's is super easily managed
