Some weird Leicester highlight video came up on my YouTube feed for some reason and it just made me remember that in 2014 Leicester were in the Championship.
We'll never see a season like 15/16 again will we. Honestly it somehow seems more impressive now than it did when it was happening. Just what the fuck man??

Once in a lifetime, mindboggling achievement. One of the best years I’ve had watching football has genuinely been watching them every week in awe. Robert Huth winning them the league. Mahrez eviscerating Pep at the Etihad. That Vardy goal v Pool. N’Golo Fucking Kante.
A big welcome to Hixx's new cryptobro owners
As funny has it has been, and continues to be, laughing at Sunderland, this really shouldn't happen…I'm pretty sure it won't

Until they drive the club out of existence anyway
Izaac has definitely killed
Well it obviously isn't going to happen is it.
A more obvious bit of bullshit we have not seen since Musk said he was going to buy Twitter.

By Laboured Go To PostGetting gazumped by Newcastle will be a chastening if not unexpected experience. On the other hand the fact that Nunez was linked with a bunch of CL clubs and is now apparently in a battle between Newcastle and United gives off major Pepe vibes
Saw a '96 (?) era magpies shirt yesterday, would have expected it to be Asprilla on the back but was so used that I couldn't see any number or name on it 😅

Being 'linked' with CL clubs means absolutely fuck all. Plenty of clubs would be interested in him, but not at the kind of prices that are being mooted. Those prices mean only a small subset of clubs can turn interest into something more real. Liverpool I'm sure will be interested...but not for 60 million. It doesn't indicate the quality of the player at all, it's just a funny market. He's clearly a very good player.
That said, it feels like one that is going to drag on all summer. I seriously seriously doubt he considers us, even if we're willing to pay the money Benfica want. Wouldn't be surprised at all if he ends up at Liverpool in August for about 45 million and a load of add ons.

They bought him for 24M€ and will have to give Almeria 20% of the difference between what they paid and the new transfer (so, in this example, 45-24 = 21, 21*0.2 = 4,2M€ that would go to Almeria).

Well that's why I mentioned lots of add ons, not like these deals get done with all the money upfront often anyway. The specific numbers don't matter really anyway the point was I can see him waiting and waiting and then going late on in the window to a CL club for less money than what is being spoken about now. Happens a lot.

My point was that Pepe was linked with all these big clubs by his agent/Lille and it seemingly fooled Arsenal into buying him at a hefty price.

A lot of the stories around Nunez give me the vibe of a club or agent trying to big him up as much as possible and draw in buyers like with Pepe. His performances in the CL certainly suggest someone a lot better than Pepe, but still

Well yeah you've kind of hit the nail on the head of why I don't really see the comparison...he was very impressive in the CL this season. I don't think big clubs often get "fooled", I think they'll be doing their due diligence. That's not to say big clubs don't make big mistakes of course but even the Pepe deal, despite the price, will have been rooted in a belief that he could do it in the PL.
