By DY_nasty Go To PostI guess we can't hire Ham until the playoffs are over?Didn't the Kings headcoach just coach the warriors?
Bunch of these NBA players could probably make a mint off Twitch if allowed to (OnlyFans too tbh.) Doesn't Hayward? NBA fans are pretty obsessed.
There's no way that money even registers for them tbh
Kyrie would just be streaming if he wasn't a hoop gawd anyways
Hayward just took a few twitch and LoL checks.

By i can get you a toe Go To PostKyrie has a lucrative enough contract but other guys? Not so much.Even g leaguers ain't thinking about twitch money. There's more cash (and tax wins) in youth camps and appearances. Hell, with college and am kids getting paid now, twitch is probably the LAST place for promotion.
Kyrie and Hayward and a lot of guys at that age just stream because they'd be doing it anyways. Just like Tim Duncan bringing StarCraft setups with him on the road and other guys doing band stuff. Its fun and Kyrie in particular wouldn't know what to do with himself without trolls.

I mean that too but 500+ viewers by itself on random nights is almost worthless. These guys hop on once every month if that. 200 viewers on a daily basis, simping heavy, with regular advertisement across other platforms is substantially different.
If anyone needs to try streaming more its WNBA players. They've made their biggest strides in exposure by not counting on ESPN alone to do it and branching out individually recently imo

By domino Go To Posttwitch is just another way to get hemmed up and cancelled for a nba playerIf they are that kinda person, they deserve it.

I got no idea if this means he is in better shape than when he actually played a year ago or not.

Jose really out here showing everyone how to market themselves. Gone from not having any hype to being on Inside the NBA, getting feature articles written about him, becoming the featured guest on non-team affiliated podcasts, and even getting a fucking DoorDash sponsorship.
My man must be putting in the work behind the scenes to get this done.

Idk why this thread is so active when there was no basketball last night. That’s why ESPN needed to be a neogaf poster because there was nothing else basketball related that was going on

I disagree, a NBA player could make twitch/youtube streaming really lucrative for themselves. They could almost double the value of their endorsement contracts.
The risk is, the exposure and the ability to ruin both sources of income. Didn't some NASCAR driver lose his IRL spot over his behaviour in some online tournaments? Streaming without offending is a hard task.
There's also a question of whether it's good mentally, turning your "tune out and unwind" time into "make $$$'s time" would have to wear you down eventually.

Speaking publically without offending people is not hard at all come on lol. I meant obviously this is off the table for some people but they should know who they are.
There is some talk about the Jazz not wanting to blow it up because of the All-Star game here that nobody cares about anyway.
Please don't be true because if so lol

I hate the whole concept of an athlete making their hobby lucrative. I tried to listen to Dray’s podcast but dude opens up with like 3 minutes of advertising. As he succinctly stated, “I make 25 million what’s a $50k fine”
He can’t possibly be making much from these ads so why even bother putting it? Just makes the listening experience worse.

They make more with smaller time investment is the thing. Hayward in particular got more out of the commercials than anything else. The worst thing about twitch is the fact its perishable content imo.
The don't say slurs stuff is basic. Some troll hops on your stream, starts conflict where there is none, then monetizes a "drama??!" clip on a different platform where you can't directly contest - and if you touch it at all you're punching down on struggling content creater trying to make it. How dare you, etc
Hell even girlfriend reviews got blasted because some reddit loser sent death threats to himself and said they did it lol. Pokimane of all people had to put out apology videos. Don't work with x and you're a ___ist. Its very easy to avoid being Meyers Leonard, yeah, but managing a persistent presence - where you're responsible for not just yourself but your community as well - is a lot to cover.

By Kibner Go To PostNo it isn't.I used to feel that way for a while. You legit can't even defend yourself without catching some form of heat though.

Basically what dy said. Its easy to not say every racial slur. But the amount of other things people catch feels over is immense. Linus from ltt basically has to apologize weekly. Xqc had his overwatch career ended over the /7 emote stuff.

this woman is streaming monster hunter and said something along the lines of "i really don't care about functionality, i just like to see my character wear cute stuff" and she spent the next hour trying to talk down a crisis. because boob armor is oppression and not acknowledging the tiered sexism at work shows she's indifferent to the frustrations of women everywhere.

And then people drag your sponsors into it via twitter, the sponsor goes to your team with a please explain ....
Worth risking an nba contract over ?
By i can get you a toe Go To PostTBH if you're a streamer who's a woman you're dealing with nothing but trolls from all directionsehhhhh yes and no. twitch literally banned the word simp to create a safer space for spenders lol.... there's problems for women streaming, but the dialogue exists. ban history being shared, verified/follow/sub only channel options, more auto-mod tools, etc. people will go hard to defend e-honor and pay for the right to do so too. hell, twitch leadership playing favorites is a part of the problem there as well.
but at the end of the day, people will show up to just watch a girl talk on mute - people will show up to a brown person's stream explicitly to talk shit
black streamers barely exist because its way worse
By giririsss Go To PostFarkin hell.yeah. and at least podcasts have some form of editing, AMAs have a filtering process as well, so on. all live with an open chat goes from intimate and personable to out of control so quick that its rarely worth the risk for many.

Will be here permanently Friday but the Celtics off-season will be all in on Beal
They need a point guard
Smart winning DPOY raised his trade value
They’ll give up Grant and Robert Williams
Then Brown and Tatum bolt in a few years so it’s back to the lottery 😎
