From a fanbase that wishes their own players die in a plane crash? Shocked.
Mavs will have a chance to win as long as Phoenix doesn't score more than 100 I guess.

Putting hands on someone's mom on a Sunday, this Sunday, in front of thousands of people, is absolutely disgusting and worthy of a lifetime ban + jail time.
Already annoyed by the concern trolling assholes about the kids age and Paul throwing threats. Touch/hurt my mom and you're 15 or over, good luck with anyone in my family's response. How people respond to this shit is gonna be some major side eye from me tbh.

Both #1 seeds won the first two games then lost the next two
Both #2 seeds lost the first game, won the second and lost the 3rd game

Arena/TV/advertising revnue is a hard habit to kick
I was today years old when I learned that the league flipping the 1980 Finals MVP from Kareem to Magic for "basketball reasons" was probably real:
"Winning Time" shows a locker room-bound Johnson agreeing to take the finals MVP award instead of Abdul-Jabbar — on the strong suggestion of David Stern, the league's executive vice president for legal affairs (and future commissioner). The scene is a fictionalized account of the debate surrounding Johnson's finals MVP win.
Abdul-Jabbar was the series' statistical MVP winner through his heroic Game 5. But he missed the finals due to his ankle injury.
In his memoir, "Kareem," Abdul-Jabbar cites sportswriter Bill Livingston, who publicly said the voting NBA writers had originally chosen Abdul-Jabbar as finals MVP — but the group was pressured "either by the network (CBS) or the league" to change the vote. Johnson had no say in the matter. But with Abdul-Jabbar stuck watching the game from his Los Angeles home, giving the award to an empty chair was bad TV.
"My not being there in Philadelphia to receive the trophy on camera was a major inconvenience as far as the television people were concerned," Abdul-Jabbar wrote, making it clear he only cared about winning the game. He did not begrudge Johnson for the win, writing, "the outcome was never a problem between Magic and me."
Have watched v little of Sixers - Heat. They are two teams I just do not enjoy watching lol.
Just watched the NBA 2 min highlight vid and they exclusively showed shots of 76ers players flopping after every made bucket. Harden, Green, Embiid… trash dogs.

I feel like we're going to look back on a lot of these seasons like we look back on the mid 2010s with Lebron or the 2000s with Kobe and say "how come Giannis had only 2 MVPs?".
Jokic certainly deserves it for the insane statistical efficiency, but hindsight can be unkind.

It's an individual award that gets reframed based on team performance in the playoffs over a sample size of less than 20 games.
People really need to stop correlating regular season performance to playoff success for these types of things.

I hate American MVP awards.
Should just copy the Balon d’or in football. Vote for best player over the year.
Let each journalist decide how they want to define best player.
I got nothing against Jokic winning the award. Giannis is the best player in the league, but Jokic was the most valuable. Plus Giannis in the realm of caring about Finals MVP more now.

people say that but when you go through the seasons it's hard to justify giving him one more. maybe that first Heat year instead of Rose but even then i would probably go with Dwight.
I feel like you should have to be on a top 4 team in the NBA to win MVP. You should actually accomplish something with your value.

i would do a best player of the season and a best player of the playoffs award.
If Jokic put up those stats with a healthy MPJ and Murray and they still only got the 6th seed then there’s a problem
I think giving consideration to the fact that he carried nobodies should carry weight.

By DiPro Go To Postwhy would you assume they will be? they were literally 3rd, 3rd and 2nd the three seasons before this one.I’m not saying that would happen. I just meant the whole argument about giving it to a player from a top seed instead of a player on a 6th seed is dumb. This isn’t Westbrook playing on a healthy team and having a low seed, this is legitimately one of the best players in the league playing with third stringers. I think we can make exceptions in cases like this
Don’t understand how anyone can argue Jokic isn’t the most VALUABLE player. Either redefine what the award is for, or acknowledge he deserves it. Simple.
