By sohois Go To PostIf you're looking at Liverpool as a base, Klopp's first window saw Mane, Wijnaldum for 25-35m & Klavan and Matip added for almost nothing; next season saw Salah, Ox and Robertson for <40m fees. Obviously there's been price inflation since then but those type of signings are surely still out there.I think the inflation has made it really difficult to regularly capture PL proven players for relatively cheap like some of those players. Two were signed from relegated teams, one was a free transfer from Germany, etc. I think the inflation pushes the others (Mane, Salah, Ox) well past £50m now or certainly in that ballpark.
Looking at the likely relegation teams, a few names that would probably be worth looking at: Max Aarons, Pierre Lees-Melou, Joao Pedro (maybe), Ismaila Sarr, Emmanuel Dennis, Tarkowski (would be shocked if someone didn't get him), Nick Pope and Cornet -- probably a few others. Cornet and Aarons are probably the two most likely to be targeted by Top 6 type teams.
There are good deals to be had, but if Utd want to turn it around, it won't be with focusing on bargains.

It would be great to buy 5 or 6 50 million pound players, but alas. Tend to save on wages with cheaper players too, and they’re probably happier to be at the club, have a little more fight in them. Good coaching can go a long way. And then maybe in future seasons you splash the big cash.

It's a marathon not a sprint. As Dan said, Pep's first year was pretty underwhelming since City still had to get rid of a ton of dead weight -- there were 12 guys on the team over 30 and it was very felt. Hopefully for Ten Hag's sake, they don't measure him too much that first year and give him time to succeed.

That was a great goal by Roberts from Burnley. Whew.
This Saints team already is on holiday, making Burnley look like City out there. Don't think many teams will drop points against them for the rest of the season.
You know it's bad when Michael Cox is in the right. Edwards deserves all the pelters he gets for that sportswashing article.
