Swapped to arcane build using the pole sword weapon you get from completing yura’s quest line. I guess they fixed the bleed proc it’s pretty rad
Edit: elanoras poleblade

Finally got to the final area 98 hours in. Absolutely fantastic game. Love the world they've built and from someone who's played all the other souls series games, they smashed it out the park with their first try at an open world series.
Still feel there are certain things that could have been improved on such as re-use of enemies/bosses late into the game got a bit lazy imo and also the catacombs/caves would have been perfect opportunities to add some variety but save a few all were pretty much the same.
NPCs were great once again. Found the Ranni and Volcano Manorquest lines really fun. Will go down the Ranni ending route most likely if that's an option.
Think the replayability value is still there but certain things probably won't hit you as much as they did compared to when playing for the first time. Tempted to try some cool faith build for NG+
Also Moonveil OP 😎
Still think Sekiro is my favourite FROM game, but this is definitely up there with DS3/Bloodborne.

Alright so I've now cleared Stormveil and bashed Godrick, the Grafted. Done some things over at Roundtable Hold too.
Liurna is next although I'm heading off on holiday tonight so that will have to wait until next week.
Stormhill Evergaol Crucible Knight still eludes me, although I beat the one on the cliffside at Stormveil.

I ove just casually exploring and ending up at the bottom of the divine tower of calid where there’s a repeat side boss that been quite buffed 😂
Currently in Mt Gelmir. Completed rannis quest line and advanced Millicent as far as I can too.
I think my favorite aspect of the game are the ashes of war and abilities. Adds depth and build variety. Letting you respect a bunch too is great.

I've always complained about the lack of variety in builds (and in turn replayability) which was really only good in Dark Souls 2

now? I've created three characters with absolutely bonkers builds. You like a weird weapon/spell family or a bizarre AoW? Make a viable build around it!

Oh you better believe it, brother.
Lol I’ve stuck with my OG katana and Unsheathe but feel like I should probably branch out. Suggestions welcome
I’m digging my polesword.
Go kill yura if you don’t want to compete his quest and get a nabakiba. Completing his quest gets you the nabakina and this elanoras polesword I'm using. With the mabakiba you can dial wield
Honestly I sorta feel like doing an all Strength or Dex build is more limiting now than other souls games. The status effects and ashes of war allow for more hybrid builds. At least from stuff I’m seeing

True, even a Quality build is limiting.
Strength/Faith, Dex/INT or Arc, INT/Faith, Arcane/Faith (dragon) etc all hybrids are just plain better and you'll get to wield all sorts of awesome weapons
Even going full INT will box you into just a few schools of magic

In the end I’m gonna prolly be around 9. The game is great and has replayability due to the ashes of war, native skills and build variety. I never play these games for graphics and that’s good because coming from HZD … yeesh lol. The atmosphere and lore are great. Just all around having a blast.
The copy pasta issue is real tho. Outside of discovering an entire area (like going from the capital to giant mountains is cool) most everything becomes kinda repetitive post Calid and it’s really noticeable post volcano manor. The only wow moments are now final
Bosses and a view from a new area. Fuck … if you’ve done side quests even a some of the bigger bosses are copy pastes.
Contemplating respecting again but not sure what. May wat to go hybrid faith something lol

Did you find the hidden dungeon IN the capital? I always try to make sure nobody missed that one lol
Horrific place😭
Might want to save one respec for Haligtree, you never know.

Yes I’m backtracking through the sewers now for a piece for my bleed build. I’m at the boss for the castle sol area as far as progression.
Also the game feels like it encourages multiple respec. Plenty of bosses (side ones mostly) are resistant to hemorage, fire and slash. Like my bleed build is kinda lame fighting the death bird in the giant mountains lol

The snow area was a genuine low point (aside from the few mind-blowing vistas) if it weren't for the last subsequent areas (and boss fights) I'd be fuming.
Naah you don't need to respec in these situations! I'd just switch weapon types or rely on pure DPS. For that cancerous bird use holy pots/buffs...anything holy basically.
Tip for any future Godskin encounters, use sleep pots or the sleep torch L2. It'll put them to sleep immediately
If you ever need company or a co-op partner for a fight lemme know

The cancerous bird:
I swapped to flail and swapped to holy slam ash. Used a mimic ash and had my mimic have the same holy slam holy flail combo. Dual slams actually worked well. I’m lucky I had some faith for my arc build and used the +faith talisman.
But like that stone boss at the top of the gelmir mountains lol

So I think I want to toy around with the assassins black knife build … still haven’t progressed far enough to access the map where the armor is found but the build looks fun to play. Seen a couple variations of the build too. Seems like a perfect kinda dex faith hybrid build to fuck around with
Edit: the only godskin fight I have left is the one where all three are summoned consecutively so that’s nice to know lol

Seen a mostly incantation version of tbe black assassin build, a pretty good hybrid build that used both weapon and incantations and one dude who just runs around crit’ing everyone in the back and using incantations to confuse groups if he draws agro so he can just keep backstabbing fools lmao. Weapon art is good for bosses.
Lol I Just recently found that thing heh
This assassins build is hilarious. Blinding fools and backstabbing em and then dual wielding weapon arts for bosses using black knife and the blade calling. Black flame is good too.
May run with it for a while

So the assassins build makes some bosses super easy but then there’s Maliketh lmao 🤣
What a nightmare that was.

Yurt …. Millicent’s prosthesis is rad I kinda want to take her out. Not sure I care about the needle. Is the removing being locked into the frenzied lending the only benefit to saving her?

but yeah might as well, her Talisman stacks with the other successive attack ones and the physick potion.
Any of you boys have thoughts on what are the better normie Spirit Ashes to upgrade? I've not upgraded any yet as I don't want to be wasting my Grave Gloveworts.
I think you have Lhutel the Headless by now right? It's from a dungeon in Weeping Peninsula
Don't worry about the Gloveworts (or any upgrade mats) you'll get plenty and you can even buy them later!

Oh cool. Yeah I have Lhutel, just felt like upgrading a normie one like the wolves or something for funsies since they use a different upgrade mat.

The talisman you get for saving her is cool too but it doesn’t have the 5 free levels of dex is
Edit: I know the lore is better / more clear in this game but I still largely dgaf and have not paid much attention lol

By Fenderputty Go To PostStarted NG+ and am just melting dudes lolWhich build/weapons did you settle on? I'm thinking of creating a Golden Order incantations character (Faith/INT), or a Ghostflame build (with Death's Poker)

my heart still drops every time she leaps in the air, even though she barely touches me anymore.
I’m running a bastardization of the dual curved sword bleed build. Fucking around with katanas using similar principals because jump attacking is boring and I don’t have two of the curved sword with native bleed.. Running like 80 arcane and set the ash of war to occult instead of bleed or keen. This is really the key to the build as the physical damage is redicukous this way. Sepuku and naitive
Bleed still does crazy proc damage too. Depending on the enemy’s resistance to bleed, I’ll swap between Sepuku or the blood hound dash one. Stacking milicents prosthesis with rotten sword one and the buff from the physick. Also running the plus to attack when near blood one. Put enough into faith to use Golden vow. A good 1k physical damage once everything is stacked and buffed per sword.
I’m not settled yet btw. I’m essentially still playing to fuck around with more builds. Want to try some dex / int next for an ice build. Want to fuck around with arcane and poison some. Never done a caster build so may try int / faith too. Thinking of a rot build but the status doesn’t scale so not sure.
I can only dodge two out of tbe three attacks in the dance. That was enough for me to take her down though. I thought she was easier than she would be because she has like zero poise. Since they build gets stronger as you chain hits, a simple dodge and 3-4 quick sword swipes and lots of HP melts from her pool.
Admittedly I started ng+ before I got to play with builds, but I needed to start a new game because I accidentally sold my dragon seal :(
That said I’m not doing dungeons much, and I’m done with the peninsula and am in Rya Lucaria Academy already. So another 30 minutes of playtime and I should be able to play around with builds again lol

I feel like instead of eventually nerfing bleed, they need to make more weapons have native status effects. All the Frost melee weapons have locked ashes of war so you cant change them. They just scale dex and str.
The reason bleed is so buff is because tbe occult affinity means arcane can be both a physical buff and an status buff. Can’t do that with intelligence for frost though.
Add poison to more weapons. Make rot scale some. More weapons should inflict madness.

So I got bored with bleed again. Dual wielding frost Nabakiba’s with a fairly balanced but slightly more dex than int ratio. I swapped the plus to attack when around bleed (even though the katanas came still proc bleed) for the plus to sorceries but I’m kinda meh on sorceries so far.
Curious if there’s any recommendations beyond the slash, which doesn’t do a ton of damage on NG+ Even with close to 60 int, and with nabakiba the added length isn’t needed. I do like the arrow one so i can drop my bow.
Tried the gravity one sucking guys in, but it feels cumbersome swapping left hands in battle. The build is definitely a dual wield katana build. The frost proc happens almost immediately with power stance. The stacking buffs to attack from repeat hit combined with weakened defenses again is pretty good at melting things even in NG+ at level 150-155
Gonna try the enchant right hand weapon one maybe?
Any good sorceries that synergies with melee?
If not I’ll reduce my INT by a couple and pull some from mind and dump that into dex for more damage
