By Laboured Go To PostDidn’t this dude used to be part owner of Arsenal? What happened with that?
By JesalR Go To PostSanction Roman before he can sell that shit, fucking Tories
That's simply not the quid pro quo that has been bought and paid for.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostDidn’t this dude used to be part owner of Arsenal? What happened with that?IIRC he wanted full ownership but the board at the time rejected it
By JesalR Go To PostSanction Roman before he can sell that shit, fucking ToriesThink of all the Chelsea fans in the Cabinet + plus all the other rich right wingers they hang out with (eg Jeremy Clarkson)

Oh they could have picked worse.
It was always weird that Russian oligarchs were authorized to own legitimate businesses, it's all blood money that. Oil state sponsored owners are next.

If I was an American with shitty hair who already owned a Premier League club I would buy Chelsea and sell my current club to Lord Bezos
In another timeline QATAR fund is buying Chelsea as we speak. Very lively discussion going on there.

Saw $2b mentioned as the price for Chelsea which seems like it would be an absolute bargain. I guess the biggest issue though is I think I've heard the club owes Abramovic $1b and I doubt that is included in the fee. I suppose the buyers could just take on the debt and not pay it off immediately if he was willing.

No I think it's more like $3bn and his loans are closer to $2bn. Most people seem to think that is massively overpiced too.
Edit: Telegraph says £4bn is his current proposal :lol
By Laboured Go To PostFucking Bayern, man.Rather Isaiah Jones than Spence anyway
By Laboured Go To PostNo I think it's more like $3bn and his loans are closer to $2bn. Most people seem to think that is massively overpiced too. That makes more sense. I guess when I saw the tweet or article they probably just used the wrong currency sign. Either way, I think the price would be very good if it weren't for having to take on the debt too -- there's no value in buying them at that full price. Maybe Chelsea is worth a bit more over time but there's so much up front cost that you'll barely ever realize it unless it's just a play thing where money is simply no issue.

Forbes valued Chelsea at $3.2 billion last year -- I think in terms of already having a huge value at the time of sale, the LA Dodgers being sold for $2b nearly a decade ago sets the bar pretty high for what Chelsea should cost as a huge sports team. I guess the main thing here though is Roman is probably desperate to sell which is going to be the main driver of the cost.
Ya when you know significant financial sanctions are coming you'd be a fool to pay the asking price.
By domino Go To Posthope they get a moron owner that doesnt care about winningYou reckon Glazers are interested huh?
I'm skeptical Abramovich would ever receive that debt he is supposedly owed in the event the club is sold.
I’ll be happy to take Chelsea off Roman’s hands…

By Laboured Go To PostInteresting -- speaking of the Dodgers! I actually don't even know him by name as Mark Walter and Magic Johnson are generally the names referenced in the ownership group. Wiki says this guy tried to buy Chelsea a few years ago for $3 billion so he does seem like a very obvious party.
Ancelotti is apparently a candidate for the United job. I want him nowhere near us. He's yet another past his best coach without a discernable philosophy. Would rather we persist with Rangnick into next season of Poch it or Ten Hag don't join.

I want 10 Hag though.
Fuck Abramovich, rotten person to the core. That he was allowed to own Chelsea all this time is a disgrace.
"Moreover, I have instructed my team to set up a charitable foundation where all net proceeds from the sale will be donated. The foundation will be for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine. This includes providing critical funds towards the urgent and immediate needs of victims, as well as supporting the long-term work of recovery."
