Former Liverpool defender Rigobert Song is set to be named Cameroon head coach on the orders of the country's president.
The 45-year-old will replace Toni Conceicao, who led the national team to a third-placed finish at January's Africa Cup of Nations.
"On very high instructions from the President of the Republic, the coach of the men's national football team, Mr Antonio Conceicao, has been replaced by Rigobert Song," Cameroon's sports minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi said. "The Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) is invited to take the necessary measures for a rapid and harmonious implementation of these very high directives."
The appointment would be unusual because Fifa rules require any member association to be independent and avoid any form of political interference.

By Lunatic Go To PostThis prospect looks amazing at only 19.Honestly it is very difficult to not get too overhyped, if he continues he is going to be tremendous and has top 3 players in the world potential. He's already fantastic. One of the best u20 players I've ever seen.
You never know with young players though, injuries, attitude, growth, mentality etc.

Imagine him under Pepđ€€ His technical ability is unnerving.

apologies if already posted, but i just saw this story:

FIFPro knocks on FIFA's door: 'Players in Russia must be able to get out of contract'[google translated]
The global players' union FIFPro wants FIFA to adjust its transfer rules because of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Foreign footballers in Russia should be able to cancel their contract free of charge.
âWe have urged FIFA to do that. This must be arranged as soon as possible," says FIFPro board member and VVCS director Louis Everard. "The increasingly escalating conflict seems to us to be a reason to be able to terminate the contract without having to pay compensation to the club. We are now discussing this.'

By Laboured Go To PostYeah obviously they put you in prison for that nowadays.I miss the old days when LVG put players in prison for doing the opposite.

Super League is apparently back on the table and will be re-launched next week with Juve, Barca and Madrid at least involved. Obviously the English clubs won't be able to join at launch.. but I'm really curious long term how they skip out on this huge new revenue stream.
But all the big European teams (the English teams) will be missing, meaning it's kind of like ESL's division 2.

Incredible prediction
By n8 dogg Go To PostTuchel kicking off about being asked questions lolJust saw what youâre referring to and heâs hardly âkicking offâ. I mean, what exactly is he suppose to say in these situations when heâs just a football coach.

Imagine trying to decide whether to watch the CL or those three clubs plus some smaller ones. Tough one.

Donât get angry at journalists asking him questions?
Also, he isnât âjust a football coachâ. He is a representative of a club owned by - and therefore employed by - an oligarch.
By n8 dogg Go To PostDonât get angry at journalists asking him questions?Perhaps that particular football journalist should stop fishing for headlines and sound bites. He was already asked not only multiple times in that press conference about Abramovich and the war, but a bunch of times before in the past few days about the situation. Not really sure what else you expect from him when his answers have been good. This isnât Pep defending Emirati slavery.

Yeah, heâs a representative of the club and not a representative of Abramovich or the Russian government. So what exactly is he more supposed to say beyond what he already has. Itâs clear theyâre only doing it because they canât get a hold of Abramovich so need to fish at Tuchel for headlines.

I donât think Tuchel should be surprised he is being asked and shouldnât lose it at journalists for being asked.
Will say I have had a journalist repeatedly ask me stuff today that I've repeatedly told them no to and it is quite irritating. But then I don't get paid millions by an oligarch / petro state to sport wash for them.
I do much worse.

The journalist in question he snapped at is Matt Law who writes for The Telegraph; would you agree that is not exactly a reputable paper?

Nothing really new there. There were reports already a few days ago that investors are on high alert. Not really sure who could buy the club nor have I heard many rumours. James Ratcliffe was rumoured a while back but backed away quickly after seeing this isnât a moneymaking venture. I imagine anyone who buys us will either be another unsavoury figure or some American sporting conglomerate.
Benfica presented 31.7M⏠loss from the first half of the season (Porto presented a 10M⏠loss, Sporing 9.5M⏠profit). If they end up in 3rd place and without a guaranteed spot in the CL group stage, I can see Darwin leaving in the summer.
He is probably gone either way, he is probably the only Benfica player who has some value in the market right now.

City U23 played yesterday and the big youth players were involved so I didnât expect them today..but not a single one on the bench at all is pretty hilarious.
