Between them and West Ham, they're the fanbase I've personally heard the most anti-semitism from though. The first time I heard them make gas chamber noises was astounding.

All that said, there are a huge number of Jewish people who hate that Spurs fans still say Yid, so they might consider us the most anti-semetic fanbase, regardless of intent.

I always thought that Jewish Spurs fans said Yid and that made it okay for their whole fanbase to say, was that never the case? Have no idea what the origins of the word are.
Iirc Spurs had an official statement the other week asking their fans to stop saying it which should be enough.
There are no depths to which certain people won't plunge to try and rile opposition fans, and that bar doesn't raise particularly high when football fans congregate.

I don't think it started with Jewish Spurs fans specifically. There was a lot of antisemitism towards our fans to begin with due to the nature of the area way back when. Opposition fans sang yids as an insult towards us, and then Spurs fans took it on as a badge of pride. There's a not too dissimilar story with Ajax IIRC. It makes sense to take the sting out of it, but it was never really ours to "reclaim", so it's not appropriate to sing these days.

FWIW I felt very similar a few years ago when the diets wave if Covid hit. Was extremely anxious and spent hours ever day doomscrolling. Time not spent online definitely helps.
