Did anyone follow the Command and Conquer series heavily?

I stopped following once the series went 3d.

Damn, that looks interesting.

I followed it. Even the one with all the porn stars doing the acting.

Wait, wasn't Renegade where you controlled one unit? I thought that was pretty cool, although the golden age for me was Generals and Zero Hour. Hopefully they make a sequel out of that game.

C&C kinda lost its luster when Westwood was closed down by EA (though I thought C&C3 and Kane's Wrath were reasonably faithful to the series). But it's still the franchise that defined the 90s and made the RTS genre what it is today (well it all started with Dune II, but C&C95 perfected it and introduced a lot of RTS standards).

Renegade Multi was one of the most innovative of its time too, but was marred by bad netcode. The above team is releasing a free indie stand-alone re-imagining of it in UE3. UT3 is not required, the game is standalone and its free.

C&C went a long way to what RTS are today, yeah.

That and the year that the biggest releases were Dark Reign and Total Annihilation.

And now we have people watching professional SC2 every night of the week broadcast live.


The last C&C was mad hatter fun, i really enjoyed it actually. But it would never work as a MP game.

I actually got that big ass C&C Pack on Origin, but the only games I really played a lot of were the original one and RA and RA2

Did anyone used to play C&C renegade? No one has done RTS+FPS hybrid like this game does, and it's free. Does anyone wanna get together and play it?
