The World Motor Sport Council approves F1 2026 Power Unit Regulations and updated 2022-2023 Technical Regulations
The four key pillars of the 2026 framework are:
- Maintaining the spectacle – the 2026 Power Unit will have similar performance to the current designs, utilising high-power, high-revving V6 internal combustion engines and avoiding excessive performance differentiation to allow for improved raceability.
- Environmental sustainability – the 2026 Power Unit will include an increase in the deployment of electrical power to up to 50% and utilise a 100% sustainable fuel.
- Financial Sustainability – Financial Regulations regarding the Power Units will reduce the overall costs for competitors whilst retaining the cutting-edge technological showcase that is at the core of Formula 1.
- Attractive to new Power Unit Manufacturers – the regulations are intended to make it possible and attractive for newcomers to join the sport at a competitive level.
Interesting AMUS article on the engines but the thing that sticks out is they claim Honda tried to renegotiate with RB for 2026. What a company.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostIsn’t Porsche supposed to take over RBR by 2026?no, partners (50/50 in Red Bull Technology). Mateschitz isn't going to drop his driving add board, not before he dies anyway.
Honda was to late to the party, their decission making in F1 is something else.

By Lunatic Go To PostPlease tell me there is no rain forecasted for this weekend.hate to be the one
Friday, weekend look (mostly) dry

Deserved. McLaren can't keep wasting a car. He'll be very lucky if Alpine wants him, and might work it out for him there.

By FortuneFaded Go To Postwould love a Job were you get millions Elizabeths as a parting gift for not performing as expected. Now pay-up Alpine and get that 2nd seat sorted.
DannyRic, Alpine only logical remaining choice, unless he has no problem driving further back in a HAAS
Oh and summer Holiday over, RACEWEEK in the Belgian Ardennes, Spa-Francorshamps
Friday looks wet, weekend dry and that could intervene with some dry running that some teams might need (TD039 floor rules & bouncing) . At worst might cost teams few tenths if at all so I cannot see the order change a lot, maybe gaps slightly less between teams?
Track were you want the topspeed in S1/3 but also enough downforce in S2 and look after your tires just enough. So efficient downforce and feel like there isn't gonna be a lot between Fer(S2)/RBR (S1/3), as Ferrari does not loose as much on the straight as they did earlier on in the season.
If Merc can find a low downforce set-up, to counter bit more drag and still be OK in S2 (bit of help from new TD) they might be close enough to be an nuisance for top 2, but cannot see them winning on pure pace (yet).
McLaren might have to much drag, so Alpine (Fernando) for best of the rest like in most of the last few races. Maybe one of the Ferrari powered teams can use their PU strength, if not exploding, to be in the mix.
Might all change because of possible penalties (new ERS parts need to be homologated/introduced before, I though 1 Sept) and you do not want them in Zandvoort/Monza (drs trains, Fer home race) has the last few years less overtaking opportunities than Spa.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostWhen do tickets for 2023 season come out? Trying to go to MontrealI would say once official calendar for 2023 is out? So probably early October if all goes well
Or can you already "pre-order", or get some email registration done and an e-mail when available?
By markao Go To PostI would say once official calendar for 2023 is out? So probably early October if all goes wellYeah I saw other places like “F1 Experiences” offering some preorder thing but I’ll wait for the official drop.

By Lunatic Go To PostHope you are ready to spend 1500 Canadian rubles on one weekend ticket that is if you are lucky.Where are you seeing $1500? Can do the entire weekend for around $400-$500 CAD per ticket and that’s not even the low end. If I just want the race you can get tickets between $150-$200.
By Punished Go To PostIt is the only 1.6 L pu the VAG concern have, so that's why they will use it as starting point.
Huh. Suppose they have 3 years (and 300 personnel) to revamp it.
If I have it right, so far 6 start from back, or possible p14. Max, Charles, Lando, Esteban, Mick and Valteri
FP1
late long red flag (Kevin pu, mguk) and rain, so some did 2nd run on reds, lot did not, so ignore most of order. Looks wet this afternoon, so might be last dry running for today, tomorrow dry
FP2
Dry until the last 10 mins when we had some drizzle and light rain and a few drivers had big moments in Eau Rouge (Lewis/Charles).
Single lap Max looked mega in S2, behind him the rest was pretty close (Sergio had some tech issue, did lap in the end). Long run only 3/4 laps before rain came down, so hard to tell.

FP3
RBR to fast, not sure if it is ear efficiency, cold temp or the new TD affecting Ferrari more, but some time to Q, so let's wait and see if the gap is really that big.
Behind them it all looks reasonable close for such a long track, with some interesting differences in set-ups (low or med downforce), gap between for example Williams/Haas is mega in S1/3).
