What impact do you think this will have on Ferrari?
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostWhat impact do you think this will have on Ferrari?Ferrari has been trying to fix the porpoising issue, so they might succeed before the French GP as others did more or less, so maybe not at all.
If it stays the same as it is now and they would fall out of allowed range, maybe slight ride height change 9rear) and it could cost them a little time. I say a little , as Ferrari car is relatively soft sprung and has a large working range, so nothing dramatic. Definitely not as problematic as for example for the Merc, a car designed around a low ride height and hard rear suspension, with limited set-up options (part of floor almost hits rear suspension) for altering ride height.
But what will the FIA allow and how it will affect the teams (the bouncing might be problem for all) on different type of tracks, we will no doubt find out in the coming two races (who will complain the hardest ;) )
It's kind of crazy how well the RBR car is given how twitchy it normally was for other less skilled drivers than Max.

Thanks, was really worried it could kill any competitiveness we had.
Hopefully we get it dealt with before France. Really don’t want to see drivers suffering from this.
I fucking hate listening to the English talk about Silverstone.

But they have the tools to just move the rear up just a little and be on the good side and not loose much time, IMO, but we will see.

FP1:
light rain, wet S2 en only little inter running. Last few mins, S1/S3 dry enough looked like few laps for all to learn something, but then Stroll beached car and red flag.

But if AMuS article is right, max 10g, not even Lewis was hitting that value in Baku (6g spikes). So feel that cannot be right, so lets wait for more in debt info.
Helicopter ride looks safer

FP2
Looked like some teams were struggling a bit to get most out of the softest compound, think Lewis even did an extra warm-up lap, what worked for him. Charles think might have had an error in his 1st attempt (aborted it) and did not improve on his medium tire run. Also saw them porpoising through Copse, so they need some set-up work (but fastest on meds). Mercedes, also in few long-run laps, looked a lot better than it has been in recent races, few high-speed corners still looked on edge. RBR there or there about, long run good, with Max, Checko looked to have few issues, not know what yet.
Midfield, Lando nailed quick lap, but did not have the long-run pace of the other 3, Alpine pace from last few races seems there again.

FP3
Based on this form, would say RBR looks best and I mean that almost literately.
- Ferrari, still porpoising at high speed and at Silverstone that means high speed corners, so needs work
- Mercedes, looks stable no excessive bouncing, just on a knife edge, looks tricky to push, fast high speed corners
- RBR looks like a Sunday drive compared to the other two. Seams to produce similar amounts of downforce with less drag and on track with so many long flat-out section it end up edging the other two ( if not engine modes, will see in Q)
Gap to midfield there again, looks a fight between Lando/Alfa/Alpine
Still chance of showers, which might affect Q by it being wet or making it a green track if we get them before the start of Q.
