Yeah saw he was being looked at too. Was just surprised the gap Sainz pulled out at the end as they were very close with 4 to go
Hülkenberg told Sky Germany that he's flying home on the "Max' plane" and he's looking forward to the Gin Tonic on the plane.
Finally had time to catch up to this weekend events, only saw the Mick crash in Q on the normal news and glad he is ok. Track asks for something even worse and if we ever go back here, who am I kidding, next year things do need a chance.
Enough has been said about another one for the "why the fuck did we race that day or there" F1 history books. Most annoying; FOM people kept calling it a terrorist trike and the "you kind of have to expect that in that region" defence, because if so than why the fuck are we are racing there in the 1st place.
Race, just lovely. Like last season two quality drivers, two cars with different strengths (RBR low downforce protecting front tire and Ferrari protecting rear, more downforce) pushing like mad. Would think that the more they learn about their cars, the closer the set-ups will get, but for now this provides fun racing. Looked like Charles had it before his rears went of a little last few laps after VSC, which allowed Max to get close enough for DRS in final part of lap and than close enough to attack. Should have done the first time what he did the 3rd, but you do not know what guy in front is going to do and you are always reacting to it.
Feel bad for Sergio with unlucky SC, but felt by pitting he already gave the lead to Charles. (outlap slower than George, no way he would have prevented an overcut).
Carlos again well off Charles and need to step it up quickly before team starts to look more and more to Charles, if chance title this season (still early days).
Merc to slow, Lewis out on pace in Q1, did not think I would see that day in f1. George with p5 damage limitation, but over a second off in race pace is a lot to find/fix. Lewis unlucky with 1st SC, but made error by not pitting before pit closed like others still did (Hulk?) and than it was to late. And another thing I thought I would never see, a Haas beating Lewis on pace in the end, who would have thought that could happen last year.
Midfield was fun again, cars close and new rules mean lot of fights, so far new rules look ok. Even though the drs zones in the last tow tracks did help, so maybe wait until after a changed Albert Park, track notorious for no overtaking (or hardly any). Multiple teams having DNF's, is also strange to see after years of endless running without issues
People on the internets reading a bit to much in the way these two race each other (compared to last year), should remember that they have done that their entire racing life, brings different dynamic, lets hope it stays that way ;)

By JesalR Go To PostAssuming nothing came of all of the yellow flag speeding investigations?nope,
they all at least lifted the throttle, so what can you do. But a double waved yellow and being prepared to stop it wasn't, look at Max and Charles how much you need to slow down for that ;)
Was hoping new race director would be harsher, but maybe that is something for the next drivers meeting, although hard to come up with a hard rule for non q sessions.
Idk if the coverage team just hates Max but he comes across like a spoiled brat
Between this and Bahrain, he complains so much

Everyone is whiny, but I think Max just has one of those faces too.
He wasn't exactly wrong with some of the things he was whining about, Charles really did gain on him in under yellows, and his battery lights working must have been annoying

I watched Drive for Success for the first time at the weekend. I didn't watch all the episodes(Only Hass/Monza/the final two), but it seems that Horner constantly wenty on about complaining like this to just get into the mind of the other teams.
Complain about Charles and the pit entrance lines and then it gets back to Ferrari who tell Charles and maybe it distracts him.
I don't like Max at all.
Seems miserable as fuck to me. Not surprised when he has been pushed since the age of three to be a world champion because his dad couldn't achieve it.
Watching the show and seeing the Monza incident again just shocks me how Max seemed to take no responsibility for an incident that would have most likely have killed Lewis before the Halo was introduced. I have no doubt he is willing to risk his own life out there, but that doesn't mean he has to risk the lives of others.
P.S. I am aware I am fully biased against non-Ferrari drivers.

Max is probably the most liked driver on the grid
What does a night in a hotel at the Las Vegas strip cost
seems announcement tonight will confirm 2023 race, hope they come up with at least a halve decent layout.

Is F1 even big in America? I know these morons like NASCAR but in my 32 years of living idk anyone who watches it. Even all the car enthusiasts from high school/college never even talked about it
Seems weird to have 3 events here

Race week and back to Melbourne after 3 years of absence and great to be back, shame it is not the opener any more. Track lay-out altered, few corners widened and chicane t8/9 is gone, so long flat out from t6/7 to new t9/10. We also have increased pitlane speed (80km/h) as that part of track has also been redone and 4, that is FOUR DRS zones. So guess someone in FOM gets a bonus for the amount of overtakes.
Between Ferrari and RBR, do not expect any updates for them, so will probably be close again. Merc should have new rear wing (bottom plane), but I think that is purely drag related and not something that fixes their problems.
Hope for midfield teams that they have better reliability (Alonso 3rd PU oops, maybe one older salvable) and think order similar to Bahrain, although new lay-out is less stop and go.
We also have for the first time a step in tires, C2/C3 and the C5 tires. Maybe someone can get C5 to last, otherwise just a Q tire and race on C2/C3, but you never know with new tarmac (grip or not).
