By reilo Go To PostShe's really gonna get less votes than Hillary did. I really can't get over that.
Again, democrats picked a candidate they felt good voting for instead of one that could win.
Noone liked voting for Biden but he fucking won and that's all that mattered.
Edit: actually scratch that. No way Kamala even makes it through a real primary had Biden dropped out sooner like he should have.
By s y Go To Postit's all women. never again.
Dems should do nothing for the next 4 years just so they can keep saying this when they lose
its not like Kamala was exceptionally terrible or something
I think the biggest mistake was the constant avoiding of the inflation question. They should have campaigned on “This was inevitable global inflation due to the after effects of the pandemic but our administration has recovered better than any other major nation due to our policies”.
There are plenty of people voting last night who believed there would not have been any inflation under Trump.

All this goes back to them flipping on Biden being a one term president. If that happens they can break clean away, scapegoat whatever's necessary, primary filter properly, and run a real campaign.
There's been no surprise here
I doubt any realistic good candidate wanted to run. They spend years planning and angling for a run. To drop that just thrust into a shit situation in the summer where losing probably kills any future chance isnt something those people are going to sign up for.
Still would have been better to try and have a clean break from the Biden administration as it was too easy to link her and basically turn it into an incumbent race in an environment where an incumbent would normally lose.

Crazy to think about purposefully losing in 2020 as being similar to ceding a touchdown in the final minute of a game when you have three timeouts, but it’s a scenario that feels apt.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostI like how people are already saying that the problem with Kamala was she wasn't progressive enough. They just don't get it, America (and the world) has taken a hard turn to the right. My county had a 21 point shift Republican.
Maybe instead of having the Avengers endorse them, they should have focused on all the economist that said Trump would be a nightmare for our economy since he wants to deport 13 million people and tariffs
deporting 13 million people is okay when the republicans say it is what needs to be sorted out lol....

By reilo Go To PostKamala did worse than Hillary, man
We can blame dems but at the end of the day Kamala ran a much better campaign than she did. She hit key areas. Hit key talking points. Tried all sorts of media venues etc. There's all sorts of influences here. Including a legacy media run by billionaires and an increasing share of youth getting info from pods like Rogan.
I think at the end of the day the reality that American's are economically illiterate and are more than happy to blame immigrants for their issues.
There's a continued realignment here with the working class vote shifting heavily rightward. There's a massive gap with how people vote for policy but not for politicians that support said policy. Look at Florida's pot and abortion amendments.
The youth vote shifted right.
Women didn't come out in mass post DOBBS.
Latino men are particularly susceptible to the immigration messaging on the economney

15m people that voted for Biden stayed home and she lost the popular vote.

Ryan Garcia and Trump, what other awful people do you ride for 😐
Kamala may have run a better campaign than Hillary (and I don't think she did beyond being as inoffensive as possible which is a massive achievement on her end tbf) but she still managed to be a worse candidate from the jump.
And blaming social media for the youth swing is actually hilarious. Sounding exactly like the Republicans from a few years back. Dems were supposed to have young voters and Latinx in the bag - the why cannot be a comfortable or quick dismissive answer this time around. Hopefully at least

How do you get 15mil votes less than Biden?
People need to stop fooling themselves, she was a bad candidate.
Harris did nothing to address inflation, immigration, nor Gaza. Absolutely zero. Ignored the fuck out of it.

The Arabs and Muslims I follow on Instagram are basically done with democrats too, they'd rather watch the world burn than be lied to.

And if we know anything about Trump, we know he's going to end the war in Gaza.
Probably by letting Israel flatten it, but you know...

Even if you take away the debate performance, I don't think Biden would have fared much better here. It wouldn't be this bad of a loss but it would still be a loss.

I mean I saw her address inflation and she's going to do better in Michigan than in PA so I'm not sure Gaza mattered. She definitely didn't bring out the vote though. She did not inspire people to get off their asses. Something like 15 million less people voted compared to 2020.
A lot of this comes down to inflation being wrongly blamed on Biden while Immigration was a scapegoat for all the working man's problems.
I think inflation vs recession will be a political discussion. A recession hits a small subset of people unless it's a big one. Inflation hits everyone and even if some inflation is goof to avoid a recession, it won't be perceived as such by the masses.
BIden / Harris did good things. Chips act, giant green bill seeing explosions of solar. Actual infrastructure projects. People shrug that off as nothing. Which is kinda sad itself. Again ... probably a messaging issue.
It's wild. I have a division manager here who runs a transportation division for high speed rail. He votes trump even though he knows there's isn't a republican who supports expanding rail in the US. Seen plenty of construction workers vote against unions, this time OT is threatened by project 2025 and these guys are often working on public works projects too.
Not sure what Dems do moving forward.
Meh ... vaccine bans and elon budget cleaning here we come. Just hope Steven Miller doesn't go to crazy.
I hope the GOP just goes wild, make Elon Minister of Communication, pardon all Jan 6 protesters, make speaking Spanish in public illegal

That's true but her stance on Gaza and Lebanon was atrocious. Rashida and Ilhan won their races without any trouble, so Muslims really didn't like her, but then again nobody really did.
I'm enjoying the salt on twitter, crazy how stupid, brain washed and lost people are. Thankfully god saved trump for this moment.

Also it’s pretty hilarious that people seem to think children in Gaza being slaughtered actually matters when American children are shot in schools on a weekly basis and no one gives a fuck.
The retrospective is pointless
Economy vibes bad, therefore rekt

I know @Fenderputty will claim she talked about it, but that's not the same as having good messaging or a winning argument on it.
Already like how they're setting us up to take the fall, when lgbt rights get erased. If the trans people weren't yadda yadda yadda. Mf'ers been throwing us to the wolves since before the midterms, and every trans activist talking about how Biden (and the Dems) did fuck all to push back, was getting yelled at.
Who knew letting these idiotic men raise your kids, especially when you don't give them anything to be inspired about (from a policy perspective) was a bad idea. Couldn't have seen that coming.
Maybe, sending the police to beat up college age folks was a bad look. Something something optics.
I'm just fucking angry.
