By Fenderputty Go To PostRich Lowrey dropping the N bomb is maybe the least surprising thing of this timeline.
I take it back. It's not shocking a RWNJ dropped it, but I do think it is shocking Lowrey has less message discipline than Trump. Coulda sworn that dude was gonna be dropping the hard R after Kamala called out his rally sizes.
By Laboured Go To PostHappens to all of us. Haitians does sound a lot like the other word in fairness.National Review guy got very comfortable and this is now the #1 example of how down in the dumps Megyn Kelly is.
By Fenderputty Go To PostIf that dude didn't have a prior and had a licensed gun, do they even have a charge?Sounds like a brave gun rocking American citizen to me. Since when is open carrying on a golf course frowned upon by the right?
Maybe he should've worn a Proud Boys hoodie and they would've let him pass.
no line of sight and no shots fired might go down as one of the worst assassination attempts ever.
combined with the instantaneous fundraiser, this was clearly a legitimate attempt

12 hours probably get him trespassing at least, right?
America: "What do you want?"
Americans: "Car free streets to walk around, eat, and be merry"
America: "So you want us to destroy a nice, walkable neighborhood and expand a highway? You got it!"

barely a crime in Biden's America if you ask me
On a conceptual level that is unbelievably grim because there is no way for them to have known who would have those pagers so it definitely was an indisciminate attack on civilians. And I know everyone will play the "big shock Israel are attacking civilians" card but there isn't even any plausible deniability here.
By Dazenheimer Go To Posthow?one theory is that a signal was sent to cause the litihium ion batteries in them to overheat and either go superheated or explode.

i mean.... as a deterrent, okay sure
but this is such a "oh fuck, lets get serious yal" moment for the rest of the world lmao

I can't imagine this happened without specific L-ion batteries in the supply chain being actually modified. This isn't just a signal hack.

By Laboured Go To PostI can't imagine this happened without specific L-ion batteries in the supply chain being actually modified. This isn't just a hack.I can imagine the pagers being old and not having on-device security chips like modern devices do that blackbox a lot of important core functionality. I imagine someone spent many many years reverse engineering the firmware.

I'm not sure how a signal can cause a pager battery to explode. The pager itself would then need to do something to cause the battery to go into thermal runaway? Pagers themselves probably have very little draw. Like what function of the pager can cause an energy spike large enough to do this?
Yeah I'm convinced they'd need to be modified (either bigger power unit or some explosive material... or both).
Curious if threes some sort of transformer internal to a pager that changes the 12V battery to a 24V power source.
By Jazzy Jambalaya Go To PostThis is from the lithium in a single AA battery:
This is sort of my point. The battery has to have the enclosure compromised to do this. You can also cause these things by other methods. Like an energy spike if you're recharging. A draw that overheats the battery. So I'm really curious HOW they got it to explode. The signal makes sense but after that I'm struggling.
Also something to note. The battery doesn't immediately explode like in the video DY posted. It has to go into thermal runnaway first and takes some time flaming / heating up before it pops.
