By Laboured Go To PostDamn, seems like the judge, jury and the lawyers hadn't read that one New Yorker article.Have they consider she's white?

That should fix things.
By reilo Go To Post…he wasn’t even president when this happened?
Good god
But they relied on some evidence from when he was President and the use of that evidence can now be challenged.
As I said, you are fucked.

By FortuneFaded Go To PostAnyone shocked that double standards that benefit only a certain group are what a certain type of person lives, breathes and votes for hasn't been awake since the US inception or paid attention to the shallowest of historical fact. We were founded by people who owned slaves.

Good god
I think this gets retried now unfortunately.

He was when the payment to Cohen happened but it’s not an official duty so likely still stands. His Jan 6th stuff can be contorted.
Biden SHOULD do things like direct the DOJ to arrest Thomas for tax evasion and a host of other dumb things that would force the GOP’s hand into litigation and highlight how dumb this ruling was, but he won’t
I don't hate it
On a slightly related note, holiday homes have fucking killed a lot of small coastal villages in Norfolk.
What should be some of the nicest places in the country are just depressing, dusty ghost towns when you walk two minutes away from the tourist spots.

especially their brain-drain and youth leaving the country for other European states. Work more for less, they'll love that.

Oof, Kamala doing better than Biden and all other Dems in polling vs Trump. Madame President step right up
I’m still holding out hope Starmer is good. He’s clearly sensible. He isn’t promising the earth. He has worked in public service. There are some good policies in his manifesto.
Just need him to take a mandate and run with it. Introduce popular fucking policies and dare the opposition to be against them. Hopefully they find some fucking money.

Mr. Biden is slowly reaching out to Democratic elected officials and has a meeting with Democratic governors at the White House scheduled for Wednesday evening. He is also continuing to reach out to people he has long trusted and has told at least one person that he is open to the possibility that his plans to move on from his debate performance — and flip the focus back to his challenger, Mr. Trump — may not work.https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/03/us/politics/biden-election-debate.html
That's interesting because on Monday Peter Baker was reporting Biden's family was encouraging him to stay in the race over the weekend at Camp David during a photo shoot with Annie Leibovitz.
It's a terrible (and self-inflicted) position for the Dems to be in but Harris would be better at this stage. Even the GOP know this because at no point have they said anything about Biden stepping down.
I do think that immunity decision may be a lightning rod for voter turnout.

Suella Braverman, the former home secretary, provides a particularly good example of Tory in-fighting this afternoon; she’s almost turned on herself.
She wrote an article published in the Daily Telegraph this morning saying “it’s over” for her party and “we need to prepare for the reality and frustration of opposition”.
But after Mel Stride, the work and pensions secretary, said more or less exactly the same thing on the Today programme (see 8.43am.), she posted this on X accusing him of being defeatist.
Cabinet Ministers conceding defeat before election day is saddening.
In F&W, we don’t give up. We keep fighting, with honesty, humility & determination, for every last vote.
Labour will be a disaster for our community and our country.
F&W is Fareham and Waterlooville, her constituency.
Braverman’s argument seems to be that it is OK for a former cabinet minister to admit the party has lost, but not a serving cabinet minister.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostHarris would be the ultimate loser. She'd lose the white women vote to a record breaking degree.
It's Newsom or bust.
Folks better be lucky that black folks seem like the main group that is taking this seriously. Any other year, even suggesting to skip over the VP...who is a black woman, would be a L beyond measure.
It's probably still not great, now, but it more than likely won't be as bad.

Seems like I was to charitable in my take on Biden's statement on trans minors. Fucking clowns. They had to offer more clarification after the fact. Damage is done.
Unreal.

By Laboured Go To PostWell I mean practically and realistically speaking it's Biden or Harris. So bust I guess. The way the convention works they can still nominate someone else.
If Biden decides not to seek reelection, the entire ticket steps down.
Harris will be forced to fight for the nomination at the convention.
