I mean, Ukraine has been wanting to join EU and NATO anyhow, so we are just playing dress-up at this point.
Yes on the one hand but Zelenskyy has also said agreeing not to be part of the EU and NATO is on the table in terms of peace negotiations.
And what's the end-play here, anyway, from NATO/EU? Ukraine will somehow turn it around and win this war and then they'll still deny them NATO/EU entry because now their country is even more economically devastated and they don't meet their stringent criteria (or Zelensky agrees not to join for peace keeping as horse mentioned), so they are left on their own again caught between two factions to fend for themselves for another attack in the future either by Putin or his successor?

shocked that russia had a firefight at a nuclear plant before bombing hospitals.
asking ppl to pull the trigger themselves vs providing the guns for your to do it. hell, there's probably some weird line in the sand regarding indirect support to be guessed at as well.
like if ukraine airpower was taking off and landing from another country's airfields - that's waaaaay bigger than small arms being sent from wherever. i think its fair to say many are making it up as they go not only because of the escalation possibility, but due to the fact that the actual goal of russia is unclear.
By reilo Go To PostMaybe I'm a layman but I don't understand the line between NATO countries openly shipping weapons and jets and tanks but refusing to install a no-fly zone.direct vs indirect support

We didn’t do the Poland fighter jet supply thing because of this
I wonder when it's our turn. Murica buys like 50% of our oil, and we buy back the refined products at a steep price.
The president's big plan since election day was to build a massive refinery (already bought another refinery north of the border) and halt all exports by 2023 to become "self sustainable".
To say it's not going well is an understatement, and I reckon the recent uptick in crude barrel price is gotta be tempting.

For people born in the 1960s and the 1970s, when leaded gas consumption was skyrocketing, the IQ loss was estimated to be up to 6 points and for some, more than 7 points. Exposure to it came primarily from inhaling auto exhaust.
Guys America makes enough oil for themselves and then some. Unfortunately as Russia is a top producer it affects oil prices.

Bristling at pressure to make room for escalating numbers of students, longtime Berkeley residents have leveraged state environmental law to accuse the oldest University of California campus of essentially polluting neighborhoods by admitting more students than the city can handle.NIMBYs are a fucking DISEASE
The case is ongoing but plaintiffs recently won a court order to freeze the university’s enrollment at 2020 levels, potentially forcing more than 2,500 incoming students to defer enrollment, take a semester remotely, lose their slot or consider another campus.
Look at this fucking asshole
Others liken the lawsuit to generational theft by the older, whiter baby boomers who dominate the propertied classes in college communities throughout California.🛎🛎🛎
“It’s like, ‘I got my piece of the pie, too bad for you,’” said Riya Master, a senior at Berkeley who is majoring in integrative biology and is a vice president of the campus’s student governing body.
But while lawmakers have sought a dizzying array of carve-outs, they have assiduously avoided calls to overhaul the landmark law most frequently weaponized to block new construction: the California Environmental Quality Act.Diversity, huh?
Also known as CEQA, the act was passed more than 50 years ago to prevent developers from ravaging the scenic state’s natural resources and wildlife. When the nonprofit Save Berkeley’s Neighborhoods sued the university in 2018, it argued that the university had failed to meet CEQA requirements to sufficiently analyze the impact of the additional enrollment.
“All we have ever wanted was a legally binding commitment that they add housing before they add more students,” said Mr. Bokovoy, the president of the nonprofit and a former investment banker with a house near the campus that is worth an estimated $1.5 million. “This is about preserving Berkeley’s culture and diversity.”
After the university announced a plan to convert an acre of parking into new academic space and faculty and graduate housing, Mr. Bokovoy’s group sued again, this time with the City of Berkeley.https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/10/us/uc-berkeley-student-housing.html

We are told, day in and day out, that our integrity is crucial to the deterrent value of nuclear weapons and helps make the world a safer place. But what man or woman of integrity could possibly launch a nuclear weapon?
Because in the wake of a nuclear attack there will be no individuals, only numbers.
Damn.
Yea, I was just talking with fam about how a whole group of people grew up without nukes being in the media as much. I've seen a lot of dumbass takes on what would happen if shit jumped off, and that def wasn't the case, when I was a kid. Now, people are talking about them again.
So I thought Nukes couldn’t be detonated by conventional means. IE, the rocket that propels the nuke blowing up won’t detonate the actual nuke.
