is still a decade, so kiev will be ash by then. All of this reminds me more and more of the early days in the Balkan war.

Losing Azure could be an understated hit
which the Russians have been releasing. How does a company the size and age of Microsoft reinvent itself like this, this far into its life-cycle? People are going to be case studying Microsoft for a very long time.

By Frustrated_me Go To PostMicrosoft has been doing gods work in terms of providing cyber security to Ukraine (and general public in large) to fight off the wave of malwareThe higher-ups realize that being in the good graces of people gets them more business, which they can use to charge more for their products and get into other markets easier in order to make more money.

will be interesting to see how this plays out
Pretty nuts thread. It's mad that all the analysts and media types prior to this said Russia would steamroll through the country in a few days (and apparently so did the Russians), and it's been a catastrophe so far.
seeing war shenanigans and propaganda in real time like this is kinda surreal
I always thought people would be MORE critical about reporting over the internet and social media but its clearly the opposite

By Perfect Blue Go To Postdunno, saying that 95% of Russian's ground forces are already deployed seems like a huge stretch.

Yeah, it's 95% of pre-positioned at the border forces that have been deployed.
Little Marco seems to be echoing that bloke from Bellingcat.
Russians supposedly only have supplies lasting until the 6th, which matches up to leaked documents saying they saw this war only lasting two weeks.

By AlphaSnacks Go To PostYeah, it's 95% of pre-positioned at the border forces that have been deployed.ahhh that makes more sense.
this is mostly because the propaganda from the other side is all on Telegram and hard to disseminate
Just finished watching this documentary, Netflix made it free and available for all. It's ridiculous how good it was, I was stunned to see the resiliency of the Ukrainian will, their unification and strength. Ukraine cannot lose this war.
By DY_nasty Go To Postseeing war shenanigans and propaganda in real time like this is kinda surrealIt’s not surprising, but experiencing it is staggering - including in this thread. When my partner’s parents started quoting Zelensky to me, I felt like I was on intense hallucinogens or living through a Baudrillard essay.

Fair lol
Stolen Russian tank meme is genuinely hilarious but really fucking far from the reality of how this kinda fighting actually goes down.

No way everyone lets Putin do whatever he wants for so long while he's got nothing to back it up.
Can we post this? Incredibly clear footage of Russian helicopter being downed: https://twitter.com/iaponomarenko/status/1500033163879456771?s=21

Putin is losing the Propaganda battle and he knows it.
Though I don’t think this is helping, Putin
This isn't a propaganda 'battle' really
And even if it was, Russia would have to suddenly care about its troops being tossed into a blender and protestors would have to stop being hauled off by the truckload as well. Hong Kong wasn't that long ago. There's already lots of similarities.

Hong Kong is still going on and hasn’t stopped. People are on “trial” every day for the protests in 2019. Not really seeing what that has to do with this beyond surface level understandings of what’s going on.
By Fenderputty Go To PostPutin is losing the Propaganda battle and he knows it.He’s “losing” in the sense of what westerners and people outside Russia are seeing and reading about the war but I doubt he cares about that. Everything he’s doing and saying is for a Russian audience and to manufacture consent around the war.
Though I don’t think this is helping, Putin
Is it working? Honestly it’s difficult to say, really. Once sanctions start clamping down and their economy gets more and more strained, we will see who Russians blame for their economy going to shit for a generation.
it'd be different it was just russia's economy effected. pearls getting clutched across the board
Companies did the same thing on a smaller scale as well when it came to shifting their money around, taking open stands where they could for as long as it was beneficial, until people's attention spans went elsewhere.

A very different narrative is played in China regarding HK and its policing of the ordeal is not exactly one that raising awareness is going to fix.

russians with knowledge of what's going on are already fleeing the country
but these sanctions will also have a major effect on the west.
