It's so interesting to hear liberal Jews I know oppose wars and conflicts in Afghanistan and Pakistan for decades. But then something like this happens and you mention Palestine, Palestinians or anything remotely in the proximity of Israel and they try their hardest to dance around the idea that they want nothing less than complete control of the region via extermination.
They've been conditioned from birth that this is the way it has to be. And these aren't religious people. Faith plays no role in their lives at all. I don't know any "practicing Jews", but they all think this way.
