Its maximum speed is 125 mph (201 km/h), the lowest speed to be considered as high speed by international standards. In terms of average speed over the entire route, it is the fastest train in North America, averaging out at 100 mphOh ffs
I'm glad it exists but like... this is sad
Tldw - Town of 250 had 50 cops that issued 5100 citations and $1 million in fines, straight up gang extortion 🤣
By reilo Go To PostEven if it was the same time or even a bit slower than by car, it would totally be worth. Don't need to actually drive.
I thought this was supposed to be HSR? It's 3.5hrs by car.
I totally agree I am just frustrated that the US constantly goes for the lowest common denominator for big public transit projects.
It's good but not good enough if that makes sense.

And the problem with it being so close to actual driving time is that a large swath of people will forego the train because they'll convince themselves it's still easier to go by car. There's not enough commute savings there to forego the car in a state notoriously in favor of it.
Yea, that's a massive bummer. It was $80 one way to go from Milan to Naples by HSR and that's double the distance in about 4.5 hours.

I get it; political discussions can be really frustrating, especially when things get heated. I've been there too. It's essential to find spaces where you feel comfortable expressing your views and working towards positive change, like political social media platforms. Keep doing your part in your small town, and remember, you're not alone in feeling this way.
By sohois Go To PostThe fact that people still fail to realize this Brooks guy was making a joke is really something. Kill Twitter faster Muskboy🙄

$158 roundtrip on the lowest end. Massive failure.
It's like $250 round trip for me to travel coach on Amtrak from Baltimore to NYC. I could use my Capital One card and book a Southwest flight into LaGuardia from BWI for like $80 more, which despite its ideal location, is probably worth it to avoid having to enter Penn Station.
The existing train business model are dead in this country.

I'm like 75% sure car manufacturers invest in American railroad systems with the sole purpose of making them look as unappealing as possible.
Fuck Russia and all but there are some real "wtf is this nazi shit" for sure in the forces over there.
Reminder, the soldier he was trying to save from punishment had shot dead an unarmed, mentally disabled man who was running away from him.

It’s the stops
Donald Trump, on his social-media network, Truth Social, wrote that Mark Milley’s phone call to reassure China in the aftermath of the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021, was “an act so egregious that, in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH.”Well then
The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused Alabama’s request to reinstate a congressional map drawn by Republican lawmakers that had only one majority-Black district, paving the way for a new map to be put in place before the 2024 election.
The court’s order gave no reasons, which is often the case when the justices decide on emergency applications. There were no public dissents. The ruling clears the way for a special master and court-appointed cartographer to create a new map.Supreme Court did something good
