Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Monday that “agents of the Indian government” carried out the killing of a Sikh community leader in British Columbia last June.Well that's certainly an accusation
Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr. Trudeau said that he raised India’s involvement in the shooting of Hardeep Singh Nijjar directly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Group of 20 summit meeting earlier this month “in no uncertain terms.” He said the allegation was based on intelligence gathered by the Canadian government.
The way prosecutors see it, Stephen Horn was one of thousands of rioters who breached the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, to interrupt the peaceful transfer of power. He scaled a statue of Abraham Lincoln, stormed then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office and joined in at least one chant with the violent mob.
But Horn and his attorneys say Horn was an independent journalist who joined the rioters so he could accurately document what happened. He wasn’t wearing clothing that showed support for President Donald Trump, he didn’t assault law enforcement officers and he, at one point, warned against breaking any objects in Pelosi’s office.
“You are being asked to decide: press or protest?” Horn’s attorney, Marshall Hood Ellis, instructed the jury in the federal courthouse in Washington at the start of a two-day trial.
On Monday, after just a few hours of deliberation, the jury went with “protest.” Horn was convicted of four misdemeanor counts, including disorderly conduct in the Capitol and parading or demonstrating within the Capitol building.
That's him in the top of the picture doing journalism.

Republicans will defend the "Don't say gay" bills by saying you can say gay, you just can't teach about sex to children. Republicans in practice:
Nobleman, a self-described “superhero geek” who lives in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., is best known as the author of “Bill the Boy Wonder: The Secret Co-creator of Batman.” It lays out the story of Bill Finger, the long-uncredited author who helped create Batman and other comic book characters.
Finger died in obscurity in 1974, with artist Bob Kane credited as Batman’s only creator. Finger’s only child was a son, Fred Finger, who was gay and died in 1992 at age 43 of AIDS complications. Bill Finger was presumed to have no living heirs, meaning there was no one to press DC Comics to acknowledge Finger’s work.
But Nobleman discovered Fred Finger had a daughter, Athena Finger. That, he said, is a showcase moment of the presentation he estimates he has given 1,000 times at schools.
“It’s the biggest twist of the story, and it’s usually when I get the most gasps,” Nobleman said. “It’s just a totally record-scratch moment.”
In Forsyth County, the author gave his first presentations at Sharon Elementary on Aug. 21. After Nobleman mentioned in his first talk that Fred Finger was gay, the principal handed him a note during his second talk that said, “Please only share the appropriate parts of the story for our elementary students.”
We're all just having a lot of fun over here. And aside from cancelling policies that never existed, the main takeaway is that Britain is now primarily a place where people congratulate themselves for doing nothing because doing anything is apparently too expensive because we're so astonishingly behind on infrastructure thanks to austerity.
We have three bins: compost (food waste and gardenwaste), paper, and general recycling for plastics, drinking cartons, and metals.
For general household waste there is a built-in underground container down the street.
At the local supermarket there is a large class container and a collection point for bottles with a deposit.

Mayor Eric Adams proposed on Thursday a major overhaul of New York City’s approach to development that his administration says could make way for as many as 100,000 additional homes in the coming years and ease the city’s severe housing crisis.
One proposal would allow the construction of apartment buildings up to five stories tall on top of laundromats, bodegas and other single-story commercial buildings — a type of development prevented by zoning rules in some neighborhoods outside Manhattan. Another would undo rules that prevent similar types of development around some transit stations. The first good thing his administration has proposed
Mr. Adams is proposing making it easier for owners of one- and two- family homes to turn basements, attics or backyard garages into apartments.
He also wants to eliminate mandates that certain new residential buildings include space for parking — a requirement that has made some housing construction impossible for developers.
Yet another proposal would let developers build larger buildings if they include affordable homes in their projects. The plan would also ease conversions of offices to apartments by making more buildings eligible and allow for smaller apartment sizes than are currently legal.
These are all good
They must be approved by the City Council, and a vote could come as early as next fall.holy fuck, a vote ONE YEAR from now? fuck off
In some cases, the state legislature would also likely need to pass bills to support the city’s goals, through programs like new tax incentives. That may not be easy. Gov. Kathy Hochul’s own ambitious housing proposals died in the state legislature this year amid pushback from suburban officials who resisted mandates to allow more housing to be built.America sucks
