By reilo Go To PostThe deal was brokered with the Belarusian president? Are we sure Putin is still alive?
Really sucks when you can't exploit a bunch of colonies and bully others with your navy or the like.

Megan McCain is concerned about nepotism:
Just waiting on Putin to be concerned about innocent civilians being killed.

I hope someone puts out a comparison of how many millions of dollars and different countries were involved in the search and rescue of the migrant shipwreck versus OceanGate.
Actually, was there even a search and rescue for the former?

problem: costs 700M a year
solution: each solution (and there are multiple, apparently) costs multiple BILLIONS
Even assuming the solution is 100% effective and there is no revenue lost from more people switching to the lower-rate fares, how long do they expect this to take to actually start saving money? lol

Imagine a world where transit is free especially if we actually want to tackle climate problems and get people out of cars.
By Punished Go To PostI love that some of the people in the replies are basically like "just because they are making tons of money, doesn't mean that the money they made is actually real."

And Chow is the projected winner, thank fuck. Need some actual progressives in power in this stupid city/province.
Congestion pricing in New York City has cleared its final federal hurdle, officials said on Monday, all but ensuring that the first such program in the nation will begin next year with the aim of reducing traffic and pollution in Manhattan and funding improvements to mass transit.
The program would charge drivers a fee to enter Manhattan south of 60th Street, one of the worldβs busiest and most traffic-clogged commercial districts.
Congestion pricing, which New York lawmakers in 2019, is expected to generate $1 billion annually for the M.T.A. Other cities around the world have had success with similar programs. According to research prepared for the U.S. Department of Transportation, London, Singapore and Stockholm all experienced less traffic after setting up their own tolls.Never not living near a mass transit hub again lol
The money will be used to improve the cityβs public transit network, including by building new elevators in the subways and modernizing signals that keep trains moving. By law, the money can only be used to pay for capital projects, not operating costs.
βThis is nothing more than a cash grab to fund the M.T.A.,β the statement said.
By NiceGuy Go To PostHas the congestion charge in London worked? Don't think I've ever heard anything about its effect.Drastically, yes. There ULEZ charge is too early to be sure of though
