Watching my grandma mentally deteriorate right in front of my eyes has been very very sad. Not Alzheimer’s or anything but she’s 92 and it’s starting to really show.

Whenever I go visit she always tells me about her two sons, my dad and uncle like I’ve never met them.

On the plus side is she’s pretty amicable and easy to get along with otherwise. My uncle’s mother in law is a decade younger than her but an absolute terror.

I expected the pro-car design around here, but I don't see why it's had to come at the detriment of pedestrians so much. There is nowhere to walk without driving there first.
I'd understand if the roads were pushed up against private land, but there is more than enough room for a bit of pavement.
Shame cos it'd be a lovely place to walk around, plenty of woodland and small hills. Must be beautiful in the summer and spring when the trees aren't bare.
Quite impressed by the number of bike lanes on the main roads, expected them to be non-existent. Haven't seen anyone using them, but babysteps.

Got strongarmed into going out with my cousin and her husband for his birthday. Went to a restaurant with his family in Alexandria, then a bar either in or just outside DC, then to a friend of a friend's townhouse a few minutes away. Not my thing at all but glad I did it.
The guy's mum phoned him on loudspeaker with my cousin listening in the back to say not to invite her parents or my mum because they're not family, which I find simultaneously rude, stupid and daft given how well he gets along with his in-laws. His dad was lovely, hope he didn't consider it rude when I tried chipping in for dinner. No idea what the customs are for that kind of thing over here.
DC looks beautiful at night from the beltway, whatever that is. Got pulled over on the way home, turned out she had the lights set to turn on automatically but that doesn't turn the tail lights on. Legit never been pulled over in my entire life before then.

@people who have lost pets, how long did it take for you to want another one if you ever did? All I think of with my cat is how it ended, the good times feel like a different era.
Don't think I'll have any desire to get another cat until that changes, and I'd hate to get a pet and not like it as much as I did Libby.
She wasn't perfect, but she was perfect to me if you know what I mean. Wouldn't have changed a thing about her besides the health issues, even if she was a pain in the arse sometimes. You haven't lived until you've tried to figure out how to fix it after a cat's walked across your keyboard.
