I don't agree unless the difference between American English and legit normal English is greater than I thought.
Yeah, I’m not reading it like that even slightly. I guess it depends on your experience getting your first car?
Regardless, all I expected was that the kid had to earn the money, that’s hardly brutalising the child

Couple of my pals got cars (usually used or their parents old model and the parents just got a new one) early with the understanding they'd be shuttling around themselves and siblings to school and extra curriculars. Basically a load taken off from the parents onto their kid with some trust and new responsibilities thrown into the mix. It's all situational, people on twitter just wanna argue about shit.
Dealing with home insurance for the new place, fucking no idea what level of anything we need. Convinced the entire place will fall down Buster Keaton style the day we move in though
By FortuneFaded Go To PostDoesn't matter what level you get, they will do everything not to pay out.Facts it's why the rich insure themselves.

Insurance for anything is a scam and whoever invented this shit, I hope Satan waterboards them all day in hell
It’s a requirement on basically all new mortgages as far as I’ve seen
Had mostly good experiences with insurance in the past, folks had a break in and everything was covered, plus contents

But people are also right in don't expect a pay out every time when shit happens. I've had them cover theft but told me to kick rocks about a leak.

Landlord trying to raise our tent 11.66% for the new year. Going to try and negotiate and see if we can get a better rate… even if it goes up that much that’s still below market rate for similar units. It’s a big company that owns the building not a small mom and pop landlord.
In Ontario, new buildings built after November 2018 aren’t subject to rent control. Our building is brand new and we are the first tenants in this unit since it opened in 2021.

Multiple soldiers are under investigation for indiscreet activity while in uniform. Specifically, posting photos of themselves wearing dog-themed bondage masks while in uniform.
As reported by USA Today, the images — many of which first appeared on social media on Dec. 9 — depict “male soldiers in uniform, or parts of uniforms, wearing dog masks, leather and chains. Some of the photos depict poses of submission and sexual acts. Another photo shows a soldier in combat fatigues wearing the dog mask on an airfield.”

Just seeing mine for a meal. We haven't really done Christmas for a good while, and the rest of the family lives or moved back to the TRNC. No drama unless my dad starts talking religion, which I've gotten good at ignoring.
Don’t mind the holidays with my family - my
Mom/dad/brother/grandma are the best and the in-laws are just as awesome. The extended family is where it starts getting dicey but we limit interaction with them anyway.

Enjoy time my immediate family and extended family. The first set of half siblings can be an issue sometimes due to jealousy put in them by their mother but they still respect me as the eldest. They all love me and I love them so it's all good.

My grandma died earlier this year and she was the only connection we really had left to my extended family. I'm gonna hang out with my best friend this Christmas Eve and then my mom, dad and brother on Christmas. Won't see any family outside of that which is fine by me. I saw the extended family at my grandma's funeral and no one knew who I was since I've changed so much in the last 5 years.
My brother's going to have his first Christmas with his foster son this year and i'm excited about getting to be a cool uncle for Christmas.

And who said COVID was over, lunatic?
Third time, second Christmas in a row and once every six months for me apparently :/. So yeah no visit to the family this year either (2020 was still lockdowns too).

Going up to Norwich on Christmas Eve to spend the week with my parents, brother, his wife and their two nephews and niece. Gonna see their cat for the first time as well, he's seemingly inseperable from the niece. Supposed to be having Christmas lunch at the apartment me and my parents are staying at, not sure about the rest of the day. Taking them on a Christmas lights steam train trip on the 28th, and taking the older nephew to see Norwich play against Reading on the 30th. Brother's downloaded Gang Beasts on their PS4 which should be good for wasting a few hours.
Hoping it isn't too cold to go on a night hike at some point. Can't wait, haven't had more than two days off over Christmas since I left school. Was legit shocked when it turned out that I'm actually pretty good with kids. My other brother has made basically no effort to get to know them and it shows whenever he's with them, which is a massive shame I think. Nurturing that relationship has been great for me personally, though I don't see them as often as I'd like. Parents' house is on the market and they plan on moving up there in the next year or two, will probably end up looking for a flat near enough. I'm not one of those people who only wants to see their family every few months, I don't have anything else that I care about.
edit: first anniversary of my Nan's death is on Friday. Gonna be rough, largely for the reminder of how painful her last couple of weeks were as what looked like her final hours stretched out. Really hope that when I go it's sudden, it's just too heartbreaking to watch someone fight so hard when you know they can't win and it was killing my Mum as well. Terminal lucidity is some bittersweet shit.
Going to the hospice later on to buy something from the gift shop and see my Nan's name on the tree of remembrance. They couldn't have done more for her or us when we were struggling. Think my mum's been back there for grief counselling a few times since but I try not to pry.
