I hear ya, man. I sometimes see someone from behind that looks like my dad and a wave of feelings just rush into me. I start walking faster to see if I can see their face in some absurd and in-vain hope that it is really him.

By domino Go To PostI usually just ignore people on the plane unless Im sitting beside a cute girl.
That hit me right in the feels, domino.
My grandma thatās here in Canada just turned 93 and Iāve been trying to mentally prepare myself for her passing even though itās futile.
My grandma thatās here in Canada just turned 93 and Iāve been trying to mentally prepare myself for her passing even though itās futile.
By domino Go To PostMan so on my flight home the other day I ended up sitting beside this old lady that is the spitting image of my grandma. I actually recoiled a bit when we made eye contact cause it felt like I was seeing a ghost.
I usually just ignore people on the plane unless Im sitting beside a cute girl. But we talked the entire flight, she was flying home from watching her granddaughters HS graduation and showed me a ton of vids from the day she was so proud of her. Then she flipped it and asked me a ton of questions about my life, what I do etc.
And it just reminded me how tight my grandma and I were. I always tell people I didnāt come from a 2 parent home it was basically a 3 parent home because she raised me as much as my parents did. I used to just go to her house and shoot the shit with her on the porch for hours. And even when she was in the old folks home Iād come back from school to visit more than anyone to the point where damn near everyone in there knew me.
I wasnāt even all that thrilled about graduation day in college because she wasnāt going to be able to make it for health reasons. I never really cared about impressing my parents or anyone else in my family but I always felt like I had to impress her. Itās been almost 10 years since she passed and that flight made it all feel fresh again. I can still talk to her in my mind but Iād give anything to talk to her in person again, and that flight was probably the closest thing Iāve felt to it.
I lost one of my grandmothers at 8 to pancreatic cancer, devastated me, my other grandmother is alive but has very bad dementia and sleeps all day after living one of the most active lives, it kills me every time I see her. She's trapped inside her own mind and sometimes the fog clears up and you get her for about 30 seconds, and then she's gone again and back to sleep. This is a woman my sister and I would spend entire summers with cause she was a teacher, the first like 16 summers of my life were spent all with my grandparents. I see her sporadically, just kills me everytime I see her like that.
My father worked a lot, he was there, but I was always around my mother, grandmothers and sister more than anyone else, I naturally just get along with women better than other men.
Speaking of flights, I have to go to America and I am super dreading it for a number of a reasons. One of them is the 10 hour flight. going to take a Japanese airline that enforces masks and stuff... but man...

Sounds to me like you hate freedom.
Had some absolute nightmare flights last week. Worst was being stuck in a plane for hours on the ground, because of thunder outside.... and that was after sprinting from one gate to the other to catch the connecting flight in time. Ended up being home well after 4 am, when I should have been home at 22:00.

Euro slaent I am traveling for a euro trip July 28th - Aug 14th first landing at LHR. Then onto France, Spain, Italy, Germany, and then continuing onto real Ireland and England for the last leg. I'm trying to figure out what the covid procedures are for certification of my vaccination status is in the EU. Any guidance on what to do is appreciated lads. The UK not being in the EU is a fucking pain.
Letās say I have a shitload of towels, ornaments, and porcelain dolls that my Mum left behind. Whatās the easiest way of getting rid of things like this?
Thereās some value in the dolls and ornaments, but selling them on eBay doesnāt seem super feasible. Car boot sale is option I suppose.
The towels, theyāre all unused. Gave a lot away already to family and a dog shelter for bedding. Still have stacks left over though.
High temptation to just bin the lot so itās out the way.

Depends on who your going with will depend on my recommendations (like romantic partners, solo, just friends etc)?
I dont think you need to be vaccinated to come to the UK
By Perfect Blue Go To PostBro thatās a strange itinerary. Way too much travelling and two days or so in each country?Man right now I was just saying all the possibilities. Realistically going to be Barcelona, Napoli, Munich or Stuttgart (Porsche), Dublin and London.
By Kidjr Go To PostDepends on who your going with will depend on my recommendations (like romantic partners, solo, just friends etc)?I'm a BOTC so travel to the UK isn't an issue it's the rest of Europe that is.

I hope you have a great trip Lunatic.
PL season should have started, so I hope you get a chance to catch a game at the Emirates.
Also, check the London thread. Kidjr made a killer post about restaurants that I showed to my friend and it really made his trip to London incredible.

Consignment/vintage shops. Try some more humane societies/animal rescues with the towels would be my suggestion if it's not too exhausting. I get just sayin' fuck it and donating shit to goodwill or dump runs. Had plenty of occasions where I was just exhausted and wanted the crap out more than any other thing.

Where would you recommend in Stoke?
Good question. I know a nice place there and you can get there pretty easily if you are in the city center.
You try to find a building called "train station" and take the next train to London.

The UK not being in the EU is a fucking pain.In Italy you must try Cacio e pepe if you're in Rome, what a beautiful city to just walk around the old parts. I've been 5 times and each trip was freaking amazing, probably my favorite city outside of Montreal. Make sure to grab a drink in Trastevere when the sun sets, the best outside bar scene I've been to.
In Spain I would grab a Bocadillo in some league 2 footy game and enjoy the sun rays. Sevilla region is amazing, Barcelona is probably the best "one stop shop" Spanish city though, it's got eveything. Ibiza is not far either, there are 2 sides to the island, one is trash and filled with tourists, the other side is where the locals are at, very chill place - avoid clubs and shit like that, not worth it.
In France I would avoid Marseille at all costs, sheesh, and go to places like Lyon for fantastic food or Paris if you can stand the tourists but enjoy architecture, history and art -- Hitler was merciful to these wankers.
In England I would defer to the locals here but London is a no brainer, try catching a game if you can even if its off season and eat diverse af food - the Turkish kebab joints are legit. Outside of London is also really nice, the greenery is so soothing.
I haven't been to Ireland but it looks fantastic, wear a hat and pretend you're Gandalf.
Though I must admit, you're doing a lot for the duration of your travel. The best part of travelling is waking up with no itinerary and grabbing a cafe at a local joint, walking the local street fod markets, eating at a stall somewhere you dont understand the language and people watching from a distance. I love just walking around and pretending I'm a local when I travel.
I hope you have a blast, Europe is so much fun. I'm planning to go to Milan next spring and looking forward to it myself.
