I haven't really liked a pokemon since X (the last one I beat), but pokemon discussion on the internet has been ruined. People are having fun with it, but anytime someone says anything about the game, people just talk about how bad it runs.
Yeah it sucks Gamefreak doesn't know how to make a game (nintendo please make monolith soft work on the next flagship pokemon so it can have an open world that doesn't blow up the switch), but from what I hear it's actually a pretty good game just runs kinda garbo.

Done with Somerville, took me 5 hours.
The very definition of wasted potential. Game starts out with an extremely cool and atmospheric intro section that - you think - sets the tone for something very special. And it does, but sadly only in the art direction department, which is truly immaculate. Everything else is mid.
If you've played the likes of Limbo, Inside and Little Nightmares you know what type of game to expect, with a fair bit of Another World thrown in there in terms of aesthetic and with an atmosphere that's lifted straight from War Of The Worlds. It looks and sounds great, especially for a non-verbal game, but unfortunately it doesn't play nearly as well.
The protagonist's movement is slow & clunky. The environmental puzzles are mostly basic and whenever they're not it's because the game makes it extremely hard for you to know what to do. There's a distinct lack of contextual clues. You'll move to a new area and immediately know exactly what to do, then, what that doesn't work, spend the next 10 minutes trying different stuff, only to come back to the initial thing - and suddenly it works, because you're now standing half a feet to the left of the damn lever. You kind of get the hang of it as you go along, but it's just frustrating.
The narrative structure is also kind of weird. The art style, as mentioned, is fantastic, and there are moments of sheer visual brilliance. However, the few emotional punches the game throws at you - a father looking for his family - end up feeling strangely detached. There's no real dramatic build-up, it's mostly just you, going through abandoned camps and caves and everyone you happen to meet is gone in the next minute or two.
And then suddenly it's over, after a kind of final stretch that's wrapped in symbolism that feels unearned and is ultimately unsatisfactory.
It's not a bad game, just not one I'd recommend paying (more than a few eurodollars) for. Still, these Jumpgate devs have something to them and might eventually hit the jackpot. Will be looking out for their future projects for sure.
