Dr Strange 2
Marvel’s most visually interesting film is also arguably its least narratively interesting. Raimi can only do so much with this weightless chutney. Olsen is good.

By n8 dogg Go To PostDr Strange 2Just finished - yeah, it leaves the opportunity to go big. its more character-focused affair.

Still great fun, Raimi pushed the fucking limits for this Marvel film.
Watched Strange 2 just yesterday myself. I really enjoyed it. The narrative was pretty standard stuff, but it was the most interesting Marvel movie I've seen in a long time. The stretch of the movie from when Strange was captured by the Illuminati, to when they made their escape to the next dimension, was fucking excellent.
They captured the gradual degradation of Wanda's mental and physical state perfectly. She was actually terrifying as a shambling, dessicated corpse monster following Strange and Chavez through those narrow corridors. That was Raimis horror mastery shining through.

By Cleff Go To PostWatched Strange 2 .yeah, was getting major evil dead vibes.
perfect director for a Dr Strange film - hope he sticks around - bizarre after credits scene though.
I too watched Strange 2. Another 'eh, it was alright' Marvel movie.
I stopped caring about Marvel's overarching plotlines after Endgame, so for some reason I thought the villain in this was going to be the bad guy from the Loki show, Kang or whatever his name is.

i didn’t watch it.
what i did watch, however, is the 2017 adaptation of it. started out strong, but ended up rushing from from one scare to the other. and there was a bit too much cg for my taste as well.
less is more, muschietti.
a decent watch, overall, though.

By Zabojnik Go To PostI too watched Strange 2. Another 'eh, it was alright' Marvel movie.Yeah, the plotting for the post Endgame MCU has been pretty poor. It's clear that from all their recent content: Loki; Dr Strange; Spiderman FFH; Ms Marvel, that they're setting up a massive multiversal collision. But they've done nothing to establish where that's actually supposed to be going.

The villain they introduced in Loki, Kang, is actually one of their best ever. In the comics he was the the major antagonist throughout the multiverse portion of the narrative. Destroyed so many of them and conquered just as many others. But there hasn't been a peep out of him since he was introduced in that show.
He's supposed to play a major role in the best Ant Man. But that's still not due to release until 2023. And they've yet to establish where they're actually going with their movies.
The Sadness was also pretty disappointing. Just felt like Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead but we gave everyone Wes Borland eyes instead of zombie makeup because we blew our budget on the gore(which wasnt near as good as the gore in VHS 94 which was the last horror movie I saw with some pretty shocking gore])
also just like the most tired 'humans bad and look at phones all day!' messaging

Thought Strange 2 was meh and did nothing of interest with the multiverse aspect
like it would have been cool if Strange and America visited the other verses instead of just speeding though them

Only if you’ve seen Wandavision though lol
Anyway, I thought it was incredibly mediocre despite Raimi’s visual flourishes. Nothing that was happening was interesting in the slightest. The film even stops for a ten minute scene designed to make people in the audience clap. Remarkable nonsense.
The film gives you the broad strokes of Wandavision (which is actually pretty good on a repeated viewing).
Overall, I think it suffers from the expectation to have the film to move the phase forward ala Kang, Loki, etc, especially with the name they chose "multiverse of madness"
It's a more closed-off film that looks inward and doesn't exist to move the phase forward.

By FootbalIFan Go To PostHow do you guys keep up with and watch all the Marvel movies smh can't believe itThey’re pretty simple so it’s really not that hard
There’s 2 hour movies that are more complex
By Hixx Go To PostA masterpiece.^
And, er, Blade Runner.
i’m going to agree with lord zabo on maverick.
fantastic action sequences. this is a proper summer blockbuster in that regard, and one they rarely make nowadays, i feel.
but everything else feels soulless.
ending spoiler: the last second save felt cheap.
still, enjoyed it quite a bit despite that.
7.8/10

RRR is honestly one of the most entertaining films I’ve ever seen. Great action. Great dancing. Great score. Great moustaches. 9/10.
edit just finished. If I see a better movie this year i’ll eat dean’s shorts. That’s how you fucking make a film. Incredible stuff

It's not even close.
The Mummy 3 is proper shit
Ancient Egypt just can't be beaten as an adventure set-up, and it's a pile of bollocks aside from that

I watched it in Hindi when I think it’s Telugu. Obviously dubbed in places but lots of crossover in language.

Yes. Precisely this. It basically in two universes, meanwhile expectations were that we'd see Strange in a whole bunch of different universes. It didn't move the MCU along. It didn't tie into Loki. Barely mentioned Spider-Man. It was basically it's own stand-alone movie that didn't feel like it was part of the franchise.
Just an oddly written movie, for sure. Somewhere low-midpack as far as MCU goes.

Just started watching this and it seems like they tried to sorta make something like Crossed (but still a fair bit milder).
Edit: whew ok that was full on Crossed in all but name, then.
I stil lwant to see a full-on The Boys-budget version of Crossed tho.
