I've only seen Princess Mononoke and it outclasses it in every way. Everywhere I look online also has the same issues with Howl and rank it in the bottom of Miyazaki's movies.
edit: It makes sense, the movie went through a ton of production issues including the original director(Mamoru Hosoda) leaving and the entire thing got shelved. Miyazaki was basically trying to cobble it together and get it out the door.

By s y Go To PostGonna watch The Wind Rises next.Definitely one of my favourites, though I tend to prefer the slice of life Ghibli films vs the fantastical ones. Check out Only Yesterday and From Up On Poppy Hill.
From Up On Poppy Hill is the only film I watched from Goro Miyazaki and it was enough to understand why his father sees him as a massive failure
Only Yesterday is really beautiful although very slowly paced.
The Wind Rises is a masterpiece

Watched Psycho for the first time last night. The 4k version looks really nice.
Until the first murder I thought it was terrific. The rest was still good but man that staircase scene is goofy as shit.
The lad who plays Norman though, fantastic.

Kind of. I was really impressed by how modern the film felt and then... that happened.

These formulaic Marvel movies, with kids doing extraordinary things while cracking wise jokes, is really getting fucking old.
Get the kids out of some of them, dial down the bad forced comedy, and find the sweet spot between PG-13 and R.

I love how this has spilled over to games, so 80% of all games gotta have a main character constantly make extremely funny one liners.
I haven't played HZD 2 yet but I imagine at some point a giant dinosaur wakes up and roars and Aloy says 'woah someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed'
By WoodenLung Go To PostShanks coming in any second to say how salo wasn't realistic to his experiences doing that.
:(((
Thought you meant Solo at first.
But I did come in to post about seeing Maverick in Screen X tonight. Releasing here today and my friend is really excited about it, so I decided to join him.
Personally, I think it will be hard to beat this when it comes to fighter jet action.

thought she was fine in that, but she's low on energy.

Voyage of Time: The IMAX Experience is a one-of-a-kind celebration of life and the grand history of the cosmos, transporting audiences into a vast yet up-close-and personal journey that spans the eons from the Big Bang to the dinosaur age to our present human world and beyond
This is a cosmic experience — and a celebration of the re-opening of Northern Ireland’s only IMAX cinema, in Cineworld.

I liked crimes of the future. Some of the effects looked a bit silly at times, but the surgery stuff looked nasty as fuck for the most part. I've become way too sensitive to that kind of stuff.
3.5/5

By Punished Go To PostJust seen the Black Phone in the cinema. That was some good shit. Blumhouse do it again.
Was very surprised when i saw reviews. Thought the trailer was kind of bad. But will watch (when on distros)
I was about to say everything I've seen Ethan Hawke in has been pretty good but then I looked on IMDB and that mf works.
That film looks interesting though.
Hopefully more interesting than Crimes of the Future which felt frustratingly MID for a film with such a strong concept. Not even the ever-nude Lea Seydoux can elevate it.
Viggo Mortensen's spluttering just ended up being annoying as fuck and the most interesting character, Kristen Stewart's (no idea how to spell the character name), didn't get enough screen time imo.

Just learnt on wiki it's the same team who made the Sinister movies. Never seen those.
I think First Reformed and Ethan Hawke's performance are two modern goats.

First reformed is sensational.
Screen X for Top Gun was incredible.
Enjoyed the movie, but man I thought it was a bad, dumb movie if you look at everything that doesn’t involve an action scene.

Caught an open air showing of Lethal Weapon last night.
The chemistry between these two is so, so good. All the quick little quips and lines sound totally off the cuff and improvised.
The sax sounds so cheesy at times, but it fits!
