Zabo is fair to criticise a film where the USP is ‘Tom Cruise did this shit for real brehs’ for not being realistic enough imho. Y’all got on me for not liking Macbeth because I didn’t think Denzel’s performance fit the character on page. Dean finds the Hostel moves unrealistic because it isn’t how he butchers women. It’s understandable if you’re a little too close to the material.

But I don’t really see what that has to do with what you’re saying? The cast and crew literally did fly in those planes and make the maneuvers you see in the film. The only part that’s heavily CGI’d is the final bit against the Not-SU-57s. The fact the stunts aren’t realistic to how actual combat looks shouldn’t be used as a knock against the filmmaking and what you see on screen.

Well I loved the film, but that’s maybe because I’m not into planes so I was wowed by things that are alien to me. I can see someone who is more of an aficionado not falling for the #verisimilitude that I did and therefore not investing so much.
It’s like any film that has football in, I roll my eyes because it’s always so shit. But people have gone wackadoo over Ted Lasso partly because they can ignore that more than me.

I’m skeptical if that has any bearing on how someone feels about the film, especially when a realistic depiction of aerial combat would be hugely boring as a dramatic film.

But…he really did do it all..? Those were real planes they were in doing pretty much all that stuff, unless the complaint is they didn’t have SAMs actually firing at them?
If we wanted to see deaths and real danger they would have hired John Landis to direct
By n8 dogg Go To Postwould aerial combat really be boring? why?Because the way these planes work in real life it’s all about who sees who first from 500+ km away lol. They don’t actually get close like that like you see in the film.
The whole film is absolutely ridiculous on anything resembling realism, particularly the mission itself being ripped off A New Hope. But I don’t think that should detracts at all from the film.
For the record, while some of flying stuff made me mentally roll my eyes, it was more about plot contrivances like the aforementioned F-14 segment, the fantasy military environment and some of the more cliched character portraits that didn't allow me to fully sink into the movie.
I think it's a fine film overall, I just pointed out what (occasionally) took me out of it.
Also, I wish I saw it in a better theater.

meanwhile maffs brains like u…
Shanks coming in any second to say how salo wasn't realistic to his experiences doing that.
I don't know anything about planes. But i know Tom Cruise is tiny and a scientology freak. So i give top gun a 2/5 based on reaction videos and trailers.

Spectacular film. One day the god of your choosing will bless us with a 4k version hopefully. Might have to settle for the re-released Bluray though :(
Anyone who likes Star Wars and doesn't like The Last Jedi is a freak.
See you next month

Agreed. See you honey bee
I am an expert in most fields(specifically hand to hand combat, farming and gardening), so it becomes difficult to disconnect the brain and enjoy the movies for what they are and not knit pick small details they screw up

Saw Psycho in the pictúrlann today. So good. They should make people watch this before they watch a superhero movie or Tom Cruise. I award it 4.5 Yenrots out of 5: half point deducted for the psychologist explaining the whole film at the end.

Newly restored in stunning 4K, Psycho will return to cinemas in its original uncut form with 13 seconds of additional footage – previously removed by censors on release. Hitchcock's chilling classic can now be seen as the legendary director intended.A damn fine dame that Janet Leigh.
Howl's Moving Castle was mess.
-Visually, it's excellent across the board. The animation was expectedly very good, particularly the magic effects and this scene key animated by Shinya Ohira is fucking incredible.
-It started out well enough. Intriguing setup and fun characters. Sophie kind of resigned herself to being old and leaving home a bit too quickly but whatever. She ends up in Howl's Castle and her interactions with Calcifer and the Mark were fun. I like how they were able to provide world building without exposition by just having Mark answering doors and going about his normal business.
.
-But then the entire back half of the plot completely lost me though. All the developments just came out of nowhere:
-Sophie is suddenly madly in love Howl after being his cleaning lady for a couple days, Calicifer being Howl's heart(or the significance of it), The Witch of the Waste's entire character existing just to fuck things up at the end, Madame Sulliman wanting to kill Howl, Sophie's mom betraying her, Turnip being a Prince and and some time travel sprinkles on top.
It went from simple to incoherent and convoluted so quickly....but why???
Apparently the book it's based on is much better. I've heard the same said about Akira and I'd rate both films about the same. A confusing, incoherent story carried by amazing visuals.
Gonna watch The Wind Rises next.
