This week, Behind The Bastards podcast did two episodes about John Landis.
There where a few things I didn't know about the Twilight Zone incident.
The stunt pilot, who was a Vietnam veteran, got scared of the explosions on the test run, talked to the the producer about it and he said that he would talk with Landis to reduce the explosions.
The following day, Landis was passing near the pilot who was talking with the producer about the explosions again and Landis responded with a "you haven't seen nothing yet".
The fireman who was on set had also worked in Children Protection Services so the producer went to the parents of the children and told them to avoid talking with the fireman and if he asked them if they were the parents of the children, they should say they were friends of the producer who were just watching the shoot.
One of the parents only spoke a bit of English and the other didn't speak English at all so the producer got an interpreter to explain it all to them in Vietnamese....The parents were Chinese...
During the filming of the scene, Landis kept yelling at the pilot to go lower. He eventually got so low that a explosion affected the helicopter and lead to the crash who killed the two kids and Vic Morrow.
After absolute silence took over everyone on the set who was still in shock, Landis apparently said "Well, that's a wrap".
Landis decided to attend all 3 funerals, against the wishes of family and friends. There are reports that he pulled the same shit on all 3 funerals, came on dragged in by the producer and some other guy like he was so affected by it all that he could barely stand.
He also decided to make eulogies on all 3 funerals, there are reports that he said on Vic Morrow's eulogy that he was honoured to direct Morrow on what Morrow thought it was the best performance of his career, he claims that right before the filming of the scene, Morrow pulled him aside and thanked Landis for giving him the chance to act on the best movie he ever done.
Morrow's girlfriend and ex-wife claim that Morrow hated the movie and was ashamed to be connected to him.
What a piece of shit.

By Lupercal Go To PostDual was pretty neat, like a movie length Black Mirror episode.
Pretty much.
Enjoy EEAAO but it was too long. 3.5 yens out of 5
Also, when the credits rolled, I stood up and nearly fainted. Holy shit. 😳

Still thinking about JIBARO. The Style, the blend of 3d animation & 2D painted backgrounds, the fact that none of the animation was mocapped, the off kilter character designs. I hope people keep giving Alberto Mielgo money.
I kept asking myself if the last episode was real or animation. The movements were so smooth, the art style was fantastic.
My favorite story was the ship and the crab, that one stuck with me for some reason. The Patriot Soldiers one was fun too.
