imagine being out of a profession for two decades and just walking back in to what will probably turn out to be the years darling film

I absolutely LOVED Everything Everywhere. Not a perfect film, the action scenes are too frequent and overall they could have cut a good 20 mins or so.
But despite that, it was one of the most creative films I've seen....well, probably ever really. On that kind of scale anyway. Great acting, great heart, amazing moments. A proper reminder of just how good movies can be.

By Not Go To Postshould I get shitfaced and watch it tonight?Uncharted?
I wouldn't bother. Even as a big fan of the games, the callbacks did nothing for me. It's just dull, a copy-paste of things you've already seen done much better in the games or in other films. Naughty Dog clearly put a lot more thought into adapting the genre into games (with the help of predecessors like Tomb Raider of course) than the film's producers put into adapting the games back into film.
The set pieces aren't many, but they go on for so long, that in a two hour film they leave no room for even a modicum of decent character or story. There's one piece in particular that feels like it goes on for about half an hour, and the set-up is basically exactly the same at the end of it as it was at the start.
Rookie Drake and untrustworthy Sully is a far less interesting dynamic than their relationship in the games as well. It doesn't need a backstory to work in the slightest.
All in all it's missing a lot of what I enjoy in the games, and misses the mark in everything that it lifts from them. Can't help but think that Tom Holland is far too soft spoken to work as a proper action hero too, though he's nowhere near as bad as I thought he'd be by his own statements.
Spoilers for Chip And Dale
He lives on.
He lives on.
I'm guessing in a few years time we'll look back on films like Chip and Dale as birthing a new nightmare of ironic, highly meta and internet driven "comedies"

Shocked at all the WB & Dreamworks references in Chip and Dale. Didn't know they had a good relationship?

It's good but it's no Top Gun legacy sequel
George Miller’s Three Thousand Years of Longing, starring Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton, got its Cannes Film Festival audience out of its seats. Also this happened
The film, screening out of competition at the 75th Cannes festival, was rewarded with a standing ovation of six minutes. Following the ovation, Miller took the microphone and said tonight marked the first time anyone has seen the film and his first screening with an audience: “It’s very moving,” he added.
While the movie was warmly received, it was prior to the premiere and out on the red carpet in front of the Palais, that the most talked-about moment of the evening occurred. A woman, screaming and wearing body paint in the colors of the Ukrainian flag along with “stop raping us” written across her abdomen, was stopped by security after it appeared she took off her clothes. She also appeared to have blood-red paint over her lower back and legs, with the word “scum” written on her lower back. Security quickly covered her in a jacket and escorted her off the carpet.

Saw that Force Majeure is Mubi’s film of the day here and god damn that + The Square are both hilarious. Dude’s new film is at Cannes apparently and has Woody Harrelson in it playing a rabid Marxist ship captain on a cruise with a bunch of rich assholes. Need a trailer ASAP
