I bet Sony execs have their greasy little wet noodle hands all over this one, too. The two movies thing is just the first evidence
They didn't give a shit about the first one
No Way Home just made them the most money of all time and it has the same plot, I can't imagine how exactly you could bedwet this and fuck it up. But if anyone can do it, studio execs can

By LFMartins86 Go To PostThe Marvel cult following have discovered a way to save art house movies.I was wondering why this sounded so familiar to me until I realized it's one step removed from trying to only tell stories that are connected to the Bible somehow
By s y Go To PostSo Austin Butler is Feyd?Yeah they announced that earlier. Good punchable face. Denis knows what he's doing even if Baz doesn't
By FortuneFaded Go To PostWatching Ambulance. Michael Bay is such a bizarre filmmaker.Surprised that this is already out there. 3 day weekend so I'll probably check it out. Love me some Bay nonsense and it seems like Jake Gyllenhaal has a lot of fun in that role.
“Everything from Amleth’s motivations to the concept of Valhalla needed to be more legible,” writes Nate Jones about the notes director and writer Eggers was given. But because the film was already in post-production and the story is told through lengthy shots, there were limits to how much could be changed—so instead of reshooting, Eggers and The Northman’s co-screenwriter Sjón decided to write new dialogue that “led the audience deeper into Amleth’s psyche and have the actors ADR it in.”I had no idea it was cheaper to just Bad Lip Reading the movie in post-production
While that sounds more simple than having to reshoot scenes, it still posed a big issue: the newly recorded dialogue would have to match lip movements and fit the Nordic enunciation. Sjón calls it “the toughest crossword puzzle you can imagine.” As Eggers explains, “You’re like, ‘Okay, we’ve got 18 syllables. The fifth syllable has to be a T because he enunciates that T so well. Maybe you could get away with a D. And then this syllable has to be an S.”
Whole crucial lines that have to be phonetically similar and not be obviously dubbed. All the weird overcomplicated work that does into making huge movies is intimidating to think about
At the point where I'm thinking Scorsese's preservation and restoration efforts are more important than the actual films he creates. What a man
What if it was the director's vision to have their films look like garbage? Bet he didn't even think of that!
Piss break from The Batman, halfway into the movie and it almost seems that it was made just for me, absolutely in love with the movie.
Very surprised with HBO Max's image quality, despite the darkness of the movie, I haven't spotted any artifacts, it looks fenomenal.

5 secs if she slaps me with period blood
By FortuneFaded Go To PostShould probably wait until the film is over before reviewing it.Finished it, my opinion still stands. It's my favourite live action Batman movie. It stumbles a bit on the third act but I think even then it works out well.
I love that this was a box office success, it's light on the action scenes but, more importantly, the ones that exist are well shot and the movement, the way they happen are important to the story.
We have a mostly silent Batman that speaks more thorough his eyes and body movement than with his words.
The cast was outstanding, my favourite was Jeffrey Wright's interpretation of Gordon, he was absolutely perfect.
The cinematography was top notch and so was the soundtrack.
I get that some people won't like it as much as me and that is completely understandable but I thought it captured the best parts of the 3 main influences for this movie : Year One, The Long Halloween and The Mask Of The Phantasm.
I am definitely going to order the UHD disk because I need this movie in my collection.
Truly happy how it turned out, I was smiling for most of the movie.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostIt stumbles a bit on the third act.
By FortuneFaded Go To PostThird act was a bit weak.
By FortuneFaded Go To Post.Yes, the third act is not as strong as the first two but it's integral to the whole story.
You have Batman throwing himself into to danger without knowing if he would survive for the good of Gotham's people, him understating that he has to be more than vengeance but also a beacon of hope.It could have been handled better but it hits the thematic spots it needs to hit to show the growth of the character, it's why they chose this era of the Batman.
I am happy to discuss the movie, it's not perfect and people will have valid points why they didn't like it as much as me, I will happily accept them but this is as good as my interpretation of Batman that I will ever have so I am happy with what I got.
By s y Go To PostBatman was worse on 2nd viewing. Decidedly not kino. The ending is almost embarrassing.Did you watch it fully or through reaction videos?
Another thing I liked about the movie, how it show's how Batman is still adapting by the way he enters the Iceberg Lounge in 3 different ways.
Legit turned off Batman after watching an hour and a half with friends and family.
Just glad I didn't pay theater money. Absolutely dull, but that chase and the follow up scene just had us all on life support

I made it 3/4 through Ambulance before calling it a night.
How does that script pass through, I don't know, any person with a brain reading it. Revoke Michael Bay's licence to film.

By Laboured Go To PostOn the subject of kino, Uncharted is out there.Just watched it. It was better than I though it was going to be. Leans heavily into the fourth game. They nerfed Chloe’s personality quite a bit, and it was obvious the actress wasn’t Australian.
northman was intense. didn't help i had a raging headache for the last 30 minutes but still enjoyed it quite a bit.
