By Daz Go To PostHow do you fail at acting like yourself?
Happens all the time.
By Daz Go To PostHow do you fail at acting like yourself? When you are being yourself you don't have prewritten dialogue and rehearse it for hours beforehand. Even if it is something you would actually say or a situation you would actually be in and you are improvising you make mistakes, mumble, say uninteresting shit, etc. Don't have to worry about hitting your cues, standing in the proper mark, that the light is hitting your face, that you are not moving out of frame, etc.
By Daz Go To PostHow do you fail at acting like yourself?a couple of cameras, lights, and people's gazes being pointed at you, i guess

By Blue Go To PostThe Batman rated PG-13…
I trusted Reeves would deliver us from bondage. 🤦♂️
You wanted an R Rating because you wanted gore and violence in your capekino
I wanted an R rating to see Robert Pattinson’s dong
We are not the same
By inky Go To PostWooden talked about watching Boogie Nights recently, and I remember reading about Pleasure something akin to: "not since Boogie Nights have we had an accurate take of the porn industry, etc". So that's what made me curious.
Movie is very explicit, yeah. It's basically the porn industry's own attempt to show "what it really takes" to make it from naive IG girl with couple hundred followers, to household name doing blacked.com scenes.
But the main actor performance is basically the only thing it has going for it and even then it's nothing special. Pornstars really can't act, not even when they are just pretending to be themselves. Ultimately not gud.
Apparently Simon Rex is v good in Red Rocket
Yeah I really want to see it, but the only copies out on the internet look fucking trash. A real struggle.
Watched pleasure. Thought it was OK, but certainly not much more than that. Anyone comparing it to boogie nights is a bit mad. Main actress good, res range from meh to bad
Watching platoon now and this fucking film wasn't OK just with Sheen? Also needed Johnny Drama and Dr Cox?!
It's decent so far

By Daz Go To PostIsn't Defoe in there as well?yep lol, mad cast
I did not. But hixx told me to watch it a few weeks ago, and i was reminded when i watched naked gun yesterday, and Frank comes out all smiles and laughs from it.
3.5M$ on Thursday previews for Scream. Predictions are for a 30M+ plus 3 day weekend, 40M$ for the 4 days.
There's a chance it might have the best 3 day opening weekend of the franchise. With a rumoured 24M$ budget, Paramount has to be pretty happy with that.
I'm just happy slashers are coming back.
Just found out today about how great the original Scream's theatrical run was.
Had an opening weekend of just 6.3M$ in the US and ended up doing 103M$.

By inky Go To PostAye, that's a much better reason.
Naked Gun is brilliant and I trust Frank.
I didn't know Dune was released on blu ray this week. Why isn't it back on HBO max yet? I thought all WB films would be on the service 45 days after theater release?
also dune related: why do people say the movie covered only the first half of the first book? Looking at this summary. It looks like all of book 1's plot was covered.

By reilo Go To Postlol it maybe covered 40% of the first bookaccording to that summary, the movie largely ends at the same point with Paul ascending and joining the Fremen.
the franchise is confusing. Some places have the series listed as 3 books, others as 6 books and sparknotes has it as one book separated into 3 parts.
From what I know, the first movie seems to cover the first half of Paul's story.

The ones that have a day 1 release on HBO Max stay there for 31 days and then come back after 4 or 5 months.

By diehard Go To PostThe hell is the point of thatDisc sales
By diehard Go To PostThe hell is the point of thatAs reilo said, disk sales but also VOD, to push a bit on the final weeks of the theatrical run but mostly to force people to subscribe for that month and to stay on for more months for the bigger releases.
I think they thought they made mistake when they released Godzilla Vs Kong and Mortal Kombat so close that you could subscribe for one month and watch them both (still the 2 biggest HBO Max hits).
Day 1 movies on HBO Max was huge for them in terms of subscribers but it came at a loss in the box office.
I actually watched a YouTube video today about movies that deserved to do better on the box office and 3 of them were day 1 on HBO.
Even the Matrix Resurrections (not mentioned on the video) clearly was heavily effected by the HBO Max deal, the quality of the movie is not a factor here.
Right now, it made almost 3 times more outside of the USA (where it's not available for streaming).
It's one of the biggest ratios for an American movie.
The Tragedy of Macbeth is pretty great so far. I definitely need subtitles with all these different accents speaking old English though. Performances are inspired and the visuals are striking so I'm engaged.
This story is all new to me though since I never watched any other Macbeth movie so I can't comment on how accurate this is to history. the only medieval figure im slightly familiar with is Napoleon and Joan of arc.
Got about an hour and 45 minutes left. Coen brother(s) have yet to fail me(besides 80% of buster Scruggs being shit)

Play is very dramatised; there’s elements of the original text which heavily imply Banquo is related to James I hence his heroic portrayal, as Shakespeare was attempting to flatter the monarchy but there’s no evidence really to suggest it in real life.
All comes from another fictional tale from The Chronicles of Holinshed.
