Rewatched Matrix 2 part 2, it might be one of the most boring films I have ever seen unfortuantely, there's a good 25 mins of action in it, but everything else is done so lazily and it really smacks of everything but the kitchen sink.
Reloaded had some cool fight/action scenes, Revolutions had one (admittedly longer than it absolutely needed to be)
But really they shouldn't have made any sequels to the first one, it was never going to be as good. They captured lightning in a bottle with that one.
Now to watch Resurrections in the next few days.. I'm kinda curious to see it based on the "meta-ness" of it lmao.

Patrick Wilson only stars in stupid movies. I like Aquaman and one or two of the Conjurings, but they’re all immeasurably stupid.
Dont think ive ever actually seen that guy in anything. But Bone Tomahawk is on my watch list
Edit: Oh he was the creep in Hard Candy. That was certainly pretty dumb too.

I really hate his face, he just looks like the budget version of a better actor. The 'better actor' might not even exist....he just looks like that.

David Brent's favourite actor. RIP.

Just watched Lost Daughter
What a weird film, 2 hour of really not knowing where it was heading and exactly the moral of the story is. The whole film made me uncomfortable as it was shot in a very claustrophobic way. Olivia Colemans, was always, was incredible, but man, did I wished that it didn't jump timeline very often.

I ended up not finishing it tbh. Didn't like it at all. Defo one for the Five Syllable Crew. Sorry for the errant recommendation, inky.
I thought it was interesting m8. Had to do it in two sittings because I fell asleep halfway through tho.
Definitely agree with the claustrophobic part. It's all done in handheld extreme closeups (very first-time indie filmmaker in that regard) which is good when you want to highlight character performances, but the readability gets annoying when you go on for two hours.

Rewatched 28 Days Later and even though I know the reasons (both techinical and creative) why it looks like it does, I think it is just an incredibly ugly looking movie (and not in a way that serves it) that is not ageing well.
By n8 dogg Go To PostRewatched another great, not heralded enough movie: The Death of StalinIt’s bonkers lol such a good film. Made me laugh when I learned they actually toned down the amount of medals on Zhukov because people thought it would be too unrealistic.

Saw Licorice Pizza tonight and really liked it, very lighthearted and sincere. Great performances, great feeling of time and place, great music. Haim girl was very good, as was Hoffman’s son.
Oh yeah it is ugly as fuck, it actually makes it a bit difficult for me to rewatch now even though I love the film itself.

By Freewheelin Go To PostHaven't seen 28 Days Later In yonks, but I can't stand that early 2000s aesthetic lol
It was filmed on like....a 2 grand camera (iirc), it looks like absolute shit

Some of it was. And then they downgraded it even further in post.
Getting more interested in Scream 5. It's gaining a lot of buzz off of test screenings and early screenings.
Most impressions are saying that it's the best one since the original.
Let's see how the reviews turn out on Wednesday.
Could be a decent hit if reviews and word of mouth are good, there's no big new releases until the first week of February with Moonfall and Jackass Forever.
This week's new release, The 355, seems like it's going to struggle to make 5M$ on opening weekend.

I looooooove how 28 Days Later looks but I do sometimes wish there were another version that was more traditional.
Might sound weird but pristine image quality takes me right out of horror films. Apart from The Thing. That looks amazing in 4k.

A thread on Bruce Willis movies in 2021.
I see Clooney has directed another film that's out now. They always seem to get mediocre reviews and flop at the box office (this one and last one are streaming though). That one with the dude from the Bourne movies was good though, Walter Cronkite: the Movie or whatever.
Speaking of actors who have given up on giving a shit and awful action movies, this terrible trailer popped up on my Facebook feed yesterday.
This looks cheap, like something made by some guys for YouTube and the tone is all over the place, the acting makes it seem like a parody but the trailer plays it like it's a very serious movie.

Just finished Mad Max Fury Road.
It's essentially a two hour chase film and it's perfect. Relatively little dialogue with a lot exposition played out through a few sentences and scenery changes. Leaves more time for the set pieces which are incredible.
The Doof Warrior is my favourite movie henchman of all time.
