Kills is fucking terrible. It is so so bad.
Anyway, just saw Banshees of Inishirin(?). Interesting film, I liked it overall. But I need to let it sit a bit.

Over time this has become one of my favourites. Just so much to like and such a great cast.
Does tension like few other films.
From a franchise that had the calamity that was Halloween 6 and Busta Rhymes Kung Fu fighting Myers and surviving, Kills is still in the upper echelon of the franchise.
It's telling how bad most horror franchises are that Halloween is probably one of the best.
Remember when they decided to expand the lore of Freddy Krueger by declaring that he was the son of a nun who was accidentally left alone with 100 maniacs for days and was gang rapped hundreds of times?
Horror movies are insane at times but I love them, even the shitty ones.
After Ends, I really appreciate the whole trilogy. It tried to do different things, it gave the town more personality and a bigger part of the story.
Not everything works but it cemented Laurie Strode as one of the greatest final girls ever.
I'm curious about David Gordon Green's plans for The Exorcist.
The TV show didn't get enough love (speaking about S1 only as I never seen S2), it was surprisingly good.
Still weird that the guy who was known for doing comedies was given the keys to two of the most historical horror franchises ever.
It's also funny how Halloween become such a big franchise when most of it's lore and the thing that separates it more from the rest of the franchises was done for pure budgetary reasons.
It was originally planned to happen during a longer period of time and it would be called The Babysitter Murders but they redone a lot of the script when they only had money to film during a couple of weeks in autumn.
Another thing that makes Halloween one of the godtier horror franchises is the soundtrack. It has the GOAT horror movie theme and even if you don't like Kills and Ends, you can't deny that both have top tier soundtracks.

It's easy money for New Line/WB. The movies are cheap to make and bring a decent amount of profit.
Speaking of cheap and profit, Terrifier 2 more than doubled in comparison with last week's Friday, currently at 5.1M$ off a 250k budget.
Pretty incredible for a movie that was partly financed through Indiegogo.

I didn't hate Halloween Ends as much as Kills, but it was boring lol. No tension yet again. It was a very weird film.
The only thing I can agree is that it was a very weird movie but that's the thing I like about it.
It's almost The Last Jedi of the Halloween franchise because it completely messes up with the expectations of the audience but while it's nowhere as good as TLJ, the more I think about Ends, the more I like it.

By Zabojnik Go To PostBullet Train was surprisingly fun, too bad the ending went way overboard.it does become a cartoon at the end.
but still a fun watch.
Tried to watch Terrifier 2. One of the worst I have ever seen. I couldn't even get to the fucking gory bits because the first 40 mins or so are some of the most boring GUFF I've let grace my TV. When I paused it and saw it was nearly 2.5hrs long, I turned it off and now think less of anyone who likes it.
Went into Black Adam with low expectations but when Suicide Squad lady* shows up after the prologue to introduce a new superhero team, The Justice Society, of four jobbers that you don't even need to learn their names, I knew it was going to be a struggle.
*Which reminds me that she should be disqualified from the 27% list for taking such a lazy role.
Hated the whole tech aesthetic and Avengers-ness of the whole thing. Ugly ugly ugly.

i read that the reason the clown tortures the woman in that tweet video is because he went out for trick and treating, and she refused to give him candy.
Apart from Mia Goth's performance (and her monlogue at the end) everything else about Pearl was pretty whatever.
Ready or Not was pretty fun. Not much else to say other than I thought Samara Weaving was really good in it.
By Laboured Go To PostApart from Mia Goth's performance (and her monlogue at the end) everything else about Pearl was pretty whatever.directing-wise I think it has a lot of interesting things that are worth admiring. The whole tone of the movie is great and something you don't see everyday, the visual approach mixing old movies with contemporary photography, etc. I wouldn't dismiss the movie altogether, although it does lack in some departments. Still a good flick.
Honestly I think I liked Pearl more than X
By Not Go To PostMichelle looking peng as hell.
Michelle Pfeiffer yowza
Whew!
Also, Majors blowing the F up - you love to see it.
By subtles Go To Postwait Bullet Train came and went?? I was hoping to see it on the big screen.Came out almost 3 months ago.

By Freewheelin Go To PostScream (2022) was enjoyable fun, I liked that the killers were basically insane fans :lolTo prepare for the role, Jack Quaid made a dummy account on Reddit and went to the Star Wars subreddit to complain about The Last Jedi.
When asked what’s gained from shooting in actual water has opposed to the more CGI appraoch taken in films like “Aquaman” and Disney’s upcoming “The Little Mermaid,” Cameron answered, “Oh, I don’t know, maybe that it looks good?”😂

By LFMartins86 Go To PostBarbarian is out today on Disney + outside the US.It’s not in the UK (I think it’s coming out in cinemas this weekend)
Barbarian was a bit of a let down by the end. It has some good moments and it starts well but instead of delivering the scares it seemed more worried about this other thing. Can’t really talk about it without spoiling, and I do recommend anyone interested to go in blind as a bat.
By bud Go To Postone of the safdie lads was in p.t. anderson’s last film.
lad has a very memorable face.
Has a bit of a Elvis Presley thing going.

Barbarian was ok. Not really sure it's worthy of the internet hype but then again most horror films that aren't absolute shit (and even some that are) build up an over-exuberant internet fanbase before release. Definitely a film I'm glad I knew nothing about (other than being the hot new horror film on the block) before watching it though. I didn't really like the ending, mind.
3/5
Also watched the new Scream. Never really been a huge fan of the series. The first one is so clear of the rest. Wasn't bad though. Another 3/5.
Hopefully Banshees of Inisherin sooooon
