I saw The Menu last night.
Was in an absolute massive auditorium and the sound quality was a bit crap as a result. Also most of the audience kept loudly guffawing like a bunch of buffoons, or Americans.
Aside from that it was a good film. If you've seen the trailer you'll know exactly what to expect; you'll be able to predict the entire plot from the get-go. But that's fine, because it isn't a thriller or a horror or a drama film. It's a comedy first and foremost, and the details are there to provide the setups. It does a pretty good job being funny.
At one point Anya Taylor Joy takes a bite from some food and it's the worst fucking bite you've ever seen, like she clearly hasn't bitten anything at all and I have no idea why they left it in the film. it's a pivotal bite

The 27% Club is made up of largely character actors whose mere presence improves a film or TV show by 27 percent. It might still be shit, but it’s better for them being there.
Key 27 percenters include:
Ralph Fiennes
Brian Cox
Angela Bassett
Philip Seymour Hoffman
John Cazale
Laura Linney
Richard Jenkins
Willem Dafoe
Viola Davis
Tilda Swinton
Saoirse Ronan
Brian Tyree Henry
Ethan Hawke
Regina Hall
Oscar Isaac used to be one until he graduated to big leading man status with Dune and Moon Knight. But his early work - Robin Hood, Drive, Show Me A Hero, Inside Llewyn Davis… all sterling.

Just watched Halloween Ends.
It was better than Kills but I can see it being polarising.
The scene at the end where they dispose of Michael Myers body is the first time I've laughed this year so it was worth it for that.

By n8 dogg Go To PostHow is Fiennes? The ultimate 27%.Yeah pretty good. Much like the film itself, he doesn't do anything unexpected but delivers what he has with typical high quality
By Daz Go To Postyou lot love turning this thread into buzzfeed with all the goddamn lists.
It's disgraceful, Bold, and it's a slap in the face to Our Troops.

Was that the LFF secret film at the Royal Festival Hall? I was there yesterday for the Banshees of Inisherin which I really enjoyed.
Very funny, beautifully shot but its dry humour and its strange plot will not be for everyone.

I would have liked to see Banshees and some of the other big names at LFF but I can't justify shelling out £40 for tickets when all the big films will turn up at my local for £7 in a few months
Seeing Banshees and Decision to Leave tomorrow. Prob go see Halloween Ends tonight.
I actually lived near a Banshee when I lived in the countryside. Never saw or heard it though, which is good I suppose.

i'm seeing decision to leave monday evening. probably.
i also want to see boiling point.
Enter the relentless pressure of a restaurant kitchen as a head chef wrangles his team on the busiest day of the year.
not sure if it's actually shot in one take or if they cut several scenes together, but i like the premise, and it's reviewing well.
and graham is always very watchable.
Decision to Leave and Banshees come out sometime at the end of the month here for the general audience. Couldn’t get tickets at the film festival due to scheduling.

He's right and he should say it more often
Taking to the stage in London for a wide-ranging discussion about his career, the two-time best director Oscar winner said: “I don’t care about the quality of things. When I see young filmmakers, I’m very connected to the way they express themselves. Nowadays, a lot of things look beautiful but there’s a lack of soul.”
The filmmaker expressed that audience expectations have shifted, too, saying he believes it is unlikely his “demanding” 2003 film “21 Grams” could be made today.
“I don’t know if we could have made that film today because audiences would be very irritated by it,” he said. “People need to be fed by the hand so much more.”

By Diego! Go To PostBoiling Point is already out on UK Netflix
yeah been on torrents for like half a year at this point
I'm going to be honest... I thought he died many years ago. Thinking about it, I probably confused him with Richard Griffiths.
RIP
RIP
I literally just saw a meme with him in, talking about how he'll be dead in 50 years time but his role at Hagrid will always live on. Sad timing
By Punished Go To PostEveryone's dying these days. Curious
Sounds like you are just inferring questions.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostI don't know if I can handle 2h and 20 minutes of "that" but even gruesome.
Art The Clown is a terrific villain for someone who is a clown who doesn't make a sound.
Terrifier 2 is actually doing well in the box office, it made only 1.2M$ but it had the second highest average for theater last weekend.
Even those 1.2M$ is damn good given the 250k budget and it's going to stay one theaters one more week due to fan demand.
Very NSFW
By Laboured Go To PostVery NSFWLmao you gotta be mad to enjoy some shit like that, god damn
By Daz Go To PostThat's dumb, she would have died from shock in the first 20 seconds
You might've m8. I would have simply parried him and then engaged him in The Marketplace of Ideas.
By Burt The Samurai Go To PostI don't get it, is it Samuel Jackson or Samuel L Jackson? Who calls him Samuel L Jackson?...everybody?
By Burt The Samurai Go To Postreally? an l after samuel isn't hard to say?
damn.
Sam yeu uhll

Brother try saying LL Cool J. I just call him L Cool J
Watched the original Scream. The commercials terrified me as a kid in a way no other horror movie did just because of the whole phone thing.
That said, it's hard to tell when I'm watching Scream and when I'm watching Scary Movie because the tone is all over the place. That intro is still pretty terrifying though, but that's the only thing. I do like the whole idea of the killer just being inadequate shitty little teenagers
I actually really liked it though. Better than Nightmare on Elm Street I thought
Also always gotta support my boy

I don’t really fuck with found footage films but rewatching REC, it’s one of the best I’ve seen in a while. Excellent sense of place and the pacing is absolutely non-stop lol

By Lupercal Go To PostDid they poison the watersupply in Haddonfield? Because these people are dumb as rocks. They live in a place where people are getting killed by an unstoppable psycho killer for decades, you have to be crazy, dumb or both to live there.
Haven't watched Ends yet, going to go through the reboot trilogy this weekend because I want to rewatch Kills to see how I feel about it after a second watch so might as well watch 2018 again.
