By n8 dogg Go To PostNeither has PTA.
imo we should include all those haim music videos here, and call it a bad run.
(i didnt like the master. and phantom thread is just ok)
The GOAT run in cinema has to be:
Billy Madison
Happy Gilmore
The Waterboy
Big Daddy
Little Nicky
Up there with Tarantino at his peak

By bud Go To Postwill have to do a rewatch one of these days, but to the wonder did more for me.KoC puts me in a mescaline-like sedated state, I can't explain it - its shot in a way that just....massages my brain?
TWBB, The Master, Hard Eight, and Phantom Thread range from good to sensational.
Boogie Nights and Punch-Drunk Love, merely okay.
Licorice Pizza, Magnolia, and Inherent Vice bad.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostGood shout ^
Modern day IMO Steve McQueen. Four films four absolute bangers
Shame and Widows in particular are sensational. And you aren’t even counting Small Axe. Lover’s Rock is INCREDIBLE
Other directors on gr8 runs:
Celine Sciamma
Andrew Dominik (although Blonde has been polarising)
Martin McDonagh
Safdie Bros
Denis Villenueve
Bong Joon-ho
Park Chan-wook
Lynne Ramsey
Jonathan Glazer
Paul King (GOAT)
Barry Jenkins (inc. Underground Railroad)
Charlie Kaufman
Yorgos Lanthimos
David Lowery
imagine being named Mia Hansen-Løve and being... french. what the fuck is up with that. disgusting. #dontculturallyappropiateØ
Lanthimos’ new flick with Emma Stone and Willem Dafoe:
Upon drowning herself to escape her abusive husband, a woman has her brain replaced with the brain of her unborn child with the help of her father.

Now we're fucking talking.
Emma Stone. Not a fan.
Lanthimos is fairly good though. But Dogtooth easily his best, then a bit slowly down hill.

By WoodenLung Go To Postwatched some ing berg instead.Need to remedy that quickly yeah. Bit of a major blind spot in that I’ve only seen The Seventh Seal. Still quite a few old timey filmmakers I’ve yet to see a film from beginning to end: Carl Dreyer, Satyajit Ray, Murnau, Fassbinder, Imamura, Truffaut, etc
Watched a few, and they have all been good... But never amazing.
and yeah, Ordet is one I've also been meaning to watch forever. iirc we actually did watch it in school once, but it's so long ago I don't remember it at all.

what makes malick’s run more impressive for me than, say, coppola’s, is that he took a twenty year break after his second film and then somehow got even better whereas coppola made those four films at the height of his abilities in the ‘70s.
but coppola certainly had a ridiculous run.
p.s. i love the rainmaker and i love legal dramas, and i want everyone to know that.

I watched Licorice Pizza this morning. I like Haim and I also like when non-actors get cast.
I didn't really feel anything when I saw Ordet. Felt inferior to the Bergman's films of the same ilk.

jesus dude hahahahaha
Word is that this seems to confirm part of the leaks and it will be a very divisive movie, people are going to be mad about some things.
By reilo Go To PostSo Jamie Lee Curtis is gonna die and they're gonna continue the franchise with another character?I only took a quick glance at the leaks a long time ago and quickly forgot it but it's not that.
From one of the shots of the trailer, I think someone else is wearing Michael's mask.

Too long but not enough time to convince me Shuri should be black Panther.
By Crusher Go To PostToo long but not enough time to convince me Shuri should be black Panther. They break character during the middle of the film and spend over an hour trying to convince Letitia Wright to get vaccinated.
