i dont think so. i watched a woman get impregnated by a car last year, in a french film, so clearly it's not all bad.
Movies watched recently:
Thirteen Lives - a little dry but I appreciated how restrained it was in telling the story. No real need to dramatise. Some impressive technical filmmaking, and a lovely warm third act Joel Edgerton. 3/5
I Came By - lacks narrative focus, has a series of weak performances around a strong one by Kelly Macdonald, and some ludicrously cartoonish shit from Bonneville. Not terrible, but very mediocre. 2/5
The Rental - Dan Stevens is always worth a watch, but this ultimately promised more than it offered, and the horror elements are really botched. Better as a domestic drama. 2/5
Werewolves Within - some nice performances, especially Richardson, but a rushed third act weakens things immensely. 2.5/5
The Nest - not the ‘thriller’ Nettlix promised, and a little one note and heavy handed, but two wonderful performances leading it. Law is as good as he’s ever been, and Coon is incredible and deserved a lot more praise than she got. 3.5/5
The House of The Devil - appreciated its restraint, its performances - especially Noonan - and its craft, but it took a little long to get going. Great last twenty though. 3.5/5
Do Revenge - good performances, a bit of edge but everyone in it is a cunt and there’s real emotional and narrative whiplash constantly. 2/5
Thor: Love and Thunder - disastrous. Narratively fickle, tonally all over the place, Thor is a massive unlikeable wanker, and for an action-comedy it commits the horrifying crime of having shit action and being unfunny. Crowe is good fun. 1.5/5

what about the old ebert 8 point scale? lad
don’t publicly shame my fucking curve you sicc cunt
edit: my 5/5 and 4.5/5 differentiation is the sole reason for the 10 point scale. Only 26 films get my ‘cum without touching’ award.

Don't Worry Dorling was alright - sort of like they picked a few Black Mirror episodes and merged them together. Cinema ticket now £8.50 though, I was thankful for my moviepass. Which is my way of saying wait for the distros.
One Direction wasn't terrible though.

By Daz Go To Postwould you say it was worth all the off-screen drama?Actually did some googling and it's not even the worst romance amongst the cast. Bit of an age difference between Kyle Chandler's daughter and her bf, to say the least.

It gets a 2/6.
Wasn't very impressed, despite actor with the eye brows
He said you had the best taste in film on SLAENT the other day. I immediately refuted this. A couple of hours later he came back and agreed with me. Can't remember why.
Bodies bodies bodies. Sorry but it was not very good.

Borat's daughter?
I do have the best taste and my opinions are always right but also, I do like dumb Blumhouse movies so Bodies was up my street.

i wish i knew what you are referring to here

He thinks you mean the quiet blonde girl in Bodies, who also plays Borat's daughter in Borat 2, and not the movie The Quiet Girl.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostI have the best taste because I watch the most wide ranging things. Get rekt nerds
that doesn't make your taste good though. hating on eggers is certified bad taste.

oh. i didnt realize that was her. nah. the girl from shiva baby wasnt very good in it either, despite being great in that film (on a side note, i cant believe stavros halkias was hitting that)
i meant the irish kino
By WoodenLung Go To Postthat doesn't make your taste good though. hating on eggers is certified bad taste.Must have me confused with Apollo, I like Eggman

I've tried many times and failed every time to watch the new world. So I have to say no, brother. Days of heaven and Badlands very good though. tree of life also good. havent watched the thin red line yet.
By Daz Go To PostYou forgot Knight of Cups
will have to do a rewatch one of these days, but to the wonder did more for me.

aww man, tnw may actually be my favourite malick.
Best run off the top is Kurosawa from mid-50’s to mid-60’s. I don’t think any modern director is up there with best run considering they don’t create as many films as the old legends. Some of the Hollywood cats were putting out two a year.
Best run is Coppola’s run in the 70s imo
Godfather, The Conversation, Godfather 2 and Apocalypse Now all within the span of 7 years

Kurosawa 1950-1965 is incredible.
Obviously your mileage varies on who you like as a director. Tarantino hasn’t made a bad film for me. Neither has PTA. Billy Wilder has a great 10-15 year run. Buster Keaton never made a bad flick.
Another good answer is Coppola. The Godfather, The Conversation, Godfather Part II and Apocalypse Now in the space of seven years. Allah willed it.
