I'm a marvel movie apologist. I feel like most of them are safe and formulaic but well made. The newer ones really feel like nobody has any passion for making them anymore. Maybe it's just the pandemic or they stretched themselves too thin.
A lot of Disney's recent efforts across the Marvel and Star Wars brands have been edited really poorly. Kenobi was especially bad for that.

Yeah I'm the same. I tend to find them at least competent and well-polished on a basic level, but even that veneer is now slipping.
They are pumped out far too quickly - leaving the production process too strained to do the quality checks. And then you have the technical challenges for the VFX Houses. I remember when almost every new VFX-heavy film (non-marvel included) would push technical achievements forward.
But we haven't seen anything on the level of say Avatar from Marvel since maybe Rocket Raccoon?
The cadence of the number of films is nuts, sustaining quality is going to take a hit - covid notwithstanding.

Shang Chi's final act was purely green screen monster fights. Eternals was boring. I actually enjoyed Doctor Strange but the plot was poor and only saved by Raimi making it camp.
There have been more misses post Endgame than there were from the first Ironman up to that movie.
Marvel Multiverse of Madness lead writer and Sam Raimi originally only had three weeks to finish the script based on a bunch of loose ideas and plot points. Sets had already been built at this point, which is incredible. Covid effectively saved the movie by giving the writer and the director enough time to start over and make something more interesting, like making Scarlet Witch the villain.
Marvel’s assembly line approach is bound to destroy the appeal of these movies sooner or later.

I watched Dr Strange 2 on the plane out to Canada, and fuck me what a corny movie that was. Threads of something potentially interesting, but boiled down to the dullest version, and punctuated with just nonsense.
By Laboured Go To PostPhoning It In: The MovieI agree with this. Only watched the Love And Thunder for the first time today and was struck at how over reliant it was on fight scenes and the Guns n Roses musical inserts. They threw so many of them in as there was nothing interesting plot wise at all. They really were just going through the motions.
It really felt at it's heart that no one involved was in the slightest bit interested in making the movie.
Compare that to Ragnarok which actually was pretty decent. There were very few action scenes comparatively and they were really there to punctuate the dramatic moments already built up. The humour was far better too.
The source material for this move is actually some of the best Thor has to offer too. They completely gutted all of the dramatic moments from the comics.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostPredictions on how long The Fabelmans standing ovation gonna be? Guessing at least 15 minutes.

So like is this meant to a new CA or are they not announcing that casting because they're desperately trying to convince Evans to come back?
Thunderbolts are my favorite comic book team but there's no way I trust MCU with it

Winter Soldier has been downgraded massively from Captain America's equal to just another mid tier Super.

Watched Emergency Declaration which was ok and entertaining enough.
Also watched Fall which while being lower budget and had some heavily contrived bits but was very effective.

Live action Pinocchio feels a bit like the Crazy World Of Arthur Brown. Why on earth does this exist.
