The new Thor movie is getting slated by critics. I enjoyed Ragnarok and in general I like Taika Waititi's movies. But seems like he leaned too heavily into his own tropes for this one and became overly self-indulgent.
Also, it looks like he's gotten to the stage where he's over exposed and every thing he does is criticised.

New Thor is shit. Saw the opening show at 3 yesterday.
Wait until it’s on Disney if you really want to torture yourself

I'm a MCU appologist and Ragnarok is among my faves but yeah Thor was shit. The last few movies all seem like they had an idea (3 spidermen, Jane as Thor, Multiverse stuff) and then had an intern figure out a movie behind it.
They all look much cheaper than they used to.

I haven't seen Thor, but even the trailers look particularly bad visually and gave me Star Wars prequel sound stage vibes.

They’ll get the hype train rolling when they start their next crossover and start hyping that up because the problem with all of these movies is the same as the infinity saga
It’s just that people ignored it because each movie was building towards thanos whereas these movies currently aren’t building towards anything.
They just need to stop making Thor movies. Stop focusing on Thor as a character because they really have no idea what to do with him. 13 years into the MCU and we still get a movie about Thor trying to find out who he is and yet another movie where Thor loses his weapon

It's weird when people say Hulk doesn't have enough substance to be a solo movie but we've had fucking 4 Thor movies
Ragnarok is my favourite Marvel, but this was such a disappointment. The humour just felt off and the music didn’t hit the same way. Just wasn’t the same fun ride from start to finish. Plus Totti and Messi were pretty annoying.
even when thanos was a thing he only really featured in 2 movies
i think the 3-4 movies a year all released 2 months from each other isn't doing them any favors either

It's too formulaic.
- movie starts with a bang
- kids are introduced as main or side characters, always kids (granted these are super hero movies, I get it)
- cheap comedic relief every 5 minutes, te comedy is so bad
- everything feels forced, from the acting to the casting to the storyline
- "hero's are humans too" theme is played out (i.e., sad spiderman has emotions)
- trust, love, revenge, rebound themes throughout every movie (i.e., nobody loves me, I'm not worthy, etc)
- vivid colors everywhere, everything is meant for grade 5'ers, its a colorbook essentially (granted these are super hero movies, I get it)
- no real depth to the story, character arcs and storylines feel shallow - nothing really matters
- quantity over quality
- 90's nostalgia all over (fonts, colors, music, etc.)
Basically Disney has adopted the Netflix model for their universe IPs. Disney became Netflix before Netflix could become HBO, or whatever the fuck they're all trying to do.

these big franchises just hitting the logical conclusion, you can't really tell a single story forever and expect the quality/interest to remain

Yeah Strange looked awful, just cheap all around looking effects. It felt like it was a CW show.

Had to check my 4K HDR version to check it's that bad and yup. Bet they do things like say oh well it's a 4 second shot no one will care type thing.
By Laboured Go To PostTrust me horse when I say there are far worse things to do vfx on then any marvel show they are complaining about.
with every big movie and tv (and those also coming out more freuently) being 99% cgi i cant imagine how stretched thin every vfx studio is
