Haven’t seen anywhere near enough 2021 movies to make a list or talk oscars or whatever. Malignant for best picture.

I really should watch that and st maud soon. Just havent really been in the mood for horror.
Went through Rotten Tomatoes Top List for 2021. Here's what I saw (unranked) with one sentence reviews + unranked ones.
Godzilla vs. Kong - Dumb fun but annoyed the hell out of me because I was switching back and forth on my oled between crushed blacks and washed out blacks
Black Widow - Worst MCU movie of the year and maybe the last 5 years
Free Guy - 2 laughs and a chuckle
Dune - Great art direction boring story, cardboard cutout charcters - faithful and best representation of Dune you will ever get
Nobody - Saul Wickman
No Time to Die - Skyfall > Casino Royal > No Time to Die > Quantum > Specter
The Green Knight - Fell asleep twice, did not care for it
The Suicide Squad - Another comic book movie where you don't care about anybody
Luca - Offensive to Italians? Someone ask Shanks
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings - Terrible 2nd half with abysmal CG. Tony Leung wasted. Fight choreography still lacking behind HK or even Korea. Disappointing.
A Quiet Place Part II - Alright I guess? Went nowhere exciting really and was just more of the same.
Spider-Man: No Way Home - Best MCU content of the year.
In the Heights - My personal favorite of the year. I feel the hate for Mr. Miranda is a bit much in here.
The Father - Great tour de force by Sir Anthony
Minari - Good drama.
Matrix Resurrection - Terrible. Amateur level meta commentary.
One Night in Miami - Alright.
Zack Snyder's Justice League - Too long, too bloated and yet still better than the original.
Fast 9 - When is the Transformers crossover coming?
Venom 2 - well at least everyone involved and watching know it's trash
Godzilla vs. Kong - Dumb fun but annoyed the hell out of me because I was switching back and forth on my oled between crushed blacks and washed out blacks

Just finished Suicide Squad 2021.
It's really a nothing film. The action scenes were boring, jokes fell flat and the characters, outside John Cenas, did nothing to enhance the enjoyment of the movie.
It's utterly derivative of Guardian of the Galaxy and lacks anything that made that series good. Which is odd since James Gunn has directed both.

Let’s rank Dogme 95 films
Yes brother. I have strong but correct opinions here.
1. Festen/The Celebration (one of my favorite films of all time)
2. The Idiots (that hardcore sex scene in the middle of it, was probably the first time I hardcore porn. and I loved it. I must have been like 8 and my dad tried to cover my eyes. But I had seen what had to be seen)
3. Open Hearts
4. Julien Donkey Boy
5. Italiensk for begyndere
whatever the last place is = truly human
By Cleff Go To PostJust finished Suicide Squad 2021.Yeah it's incredible how bad it is.

thought it ws good fun. action scenes kept my interest, characters had chemistry and more than enough jokes landed. I think it's better than both Guardians movies, a lot of that is the casting is superior.

The Father 5/5
This was a fantastic movie. It hit way too close than it should have. I was frightened, intrigued and sad throughout the film. It provided a glimpse and an understanding of people who suffer from dementia that I didn't have a true understanding of before.
The movie plays on time and reality so masterfully, at times frightening how it slips away from those who suffer.
Anthony Hopkins should be considered for an Oscar for his role. I hope he wins it.

He won best actor in 2021 for that role
And yes, fantastic movie. Masterfully directed
I just came back to reiterate my previous post, that was an insanely good movie, holy shit, fuck. Fuck.
By Frustrated_me Go To PostAnthony Hopkins should be considered for an Oscar for his role. I hope he wins it....he already did lmao
By Frustrated_me Go To PostHaha no way, sorry I haven't followed the awards for a while now.Chadwick Boseman was expected to win so they switched the order of the awards to make Best Actor announced last. Hopkins won instead, he wasn't there in person and nobody gave a speech for him so they just abruptly ended the show.

Very awkward to watch live :lol
Anyway, thought Hopkins winning it was well-deserved as he is one of the greatest actors of all time ofc but I wish Boseman won it, it would have been lovely.
Hopkins in The Father had no subtlety to the character, it just felt like one of those "look at me, I'M ACTING" type performances rather than a naturalistic performance. I do however concede that he is good in it, just not as good as some of his other performances ;)

Yeah amazing film and performance by him. Colman as well
I've never seen Hopkins give a good performance so I'm inclined to agree with freewheelin but I havent watched it
By FortuneFaded Go To PostApparently, Hopkins offered to give a speech by Zoom but the Academy refusedbro is 84 and they expected him to travel to the US during a pandemic to get a silly award lmao. (which everyone expected to go to Boseman anyway)
By reilo Go To PostBro if you want to be banned just DM a mod you don't need to go this farto be fair to sy, he only said he never saw a good perfomance of him and considering it's sy he probably only saw him in Thor 2.
