Nah, this is not the first or last time it happens. This is just what happens when you invest heavily in a team but with no proper plan.
Simply not good enough. So many players struggle to execute the very basics required from a side with aspirations of challenging the top sides. Our midfield can't control a pass, can't effectively distribute the ball to the forwards and can't shield the defence.
Rashford was about the only forward who tried to play between the lines and attack the Newcastle defence. And even then he was sloppy at it and didn't do it enough. Bruno was barely involved and the less said about Ronaldo the better. Can't understand why he was kept on and Greenwood substituted.
Maguire, Varane and Telles were utter shit. Couldn't handle being put under any sort of pressure and distributed poorly when in possession.

It'll never happen, but I'd like to see Ronaldo dropped and Greenwood played up top with Cavani. Stick Rashford on the left with Sancho on the right and that's about the best front 4 we can currently put out. Although, there seems to be some issues with Greenwood and his attitude if we're to look into some recent Rangnick comments. Noticeable that he was the player hooked at HT and not Ronaldo, despite the latter playing terribly.

Our "no. 10s" not understanding their roles at all have been the major issue under RR. That along with Telles being fantastically poor (and people somehow giving him a free pass for it), and Maguire still looks completely shot.
