By n8 dogg Go To PostIsn’t that what the Balon d’Or list ends up being anyway?
Or movie of the year lists? Or game of the year lists? Or slaent poster of the year lists?
It’s all as redundant as each other. All pointless. All just a way to waste our time until we die.
I think there's more nuance than that, I love a list. But a list of 100 is probably equally as ridiculous regardless of the subject. Top 10, top 5? Fine.
Top 100 is very stupid.
It's astonishing that City kept playing Mendy for months after his initial arrest. There's a presumption of innocence in most legal matters, but surely they could have took themselves out if the firing line by simply not selecting him?

Yeah, it's such a huge story I'm surprised there hasn't been a gold rush by the press to figure out exactly what City knew and when, because that would potentially be an enormous scandal.

There was a super injunction in place which meant they were not allowed to publish any information until the charges were made against Mendy by the police. There's no way City didn't know. Probably knew when he was initially arrested last year.

Hey tbf they're still dealing with the Barry Bennell thing.

You'd think so, but with that in mind...how the fuck is this not a huge scandal? I'm sure it'll come up again when the trial starts, perhaps they're waiting for that....
Everton suspended Sigurdsson as soon as he was arrested, Sunderland pretty much did the same as City (though IIRC someone within the club he was made aware that the allegations were true lost her job for not acting on it) but this story is something else compared to the Johnson one, fucking 7 counts of rape...
Aren't City bound by UK employment law Clegg?
Could imagine there being legal liability if they binned him, or discriminated through exclusion, due to him being arrested and not charged.

He has been changed, with multiple counts. Sigurdsson has not (I think) but he was suspended straight away pending a police investigation.

First arrested and charged on 26 August 2021 (in relation to these offences).
Edit: some suggestion he was initially arrested in November 2020 in relation to the October 2020 events.

I would like to see City put through the wringer regarding Mendy. Especially Pep. How the fuck can you pick someone for your team who was arrested for rape?

Sunderland also kept playing Adam Johnson right up until his trial. It's all about trying to get results in the end innit, little clubs and managers and so on have that kind of moral priorities over results.
Yeah, but Sunderland are a club that would pump money into one or two star players, and be on a shoestring budget elsewhere. And Adam Johnson was accused of grooming, not rape. Sunderland and their manager deserve flak, but Pep has no excuses. Unless he just didn’t know, which would mean it was knowingly hidden from him. Even worse.
On a serious note, this is geriatric george vintage. He's not interested in going back, he's playing his hand to see if the dumbshits who run the club go and renew his contract. I've seen this movie for 6 seasons in a row. This is why he has journos on the payroll, to plant stories that further his economic endeavors.
He's not leaving.
I just hope vieira doesn't renew his contract.

Well he was charged with three offences of "sexual activity with a child under 16" and one of child grooming.

He was charged with nonce related stuff. If that isnt up there with rape charges, and played him a week before the trial was about to start lol. But not like Pep cares, was pretty obvious he tried to get known rapist of Kathryn Mayorga

Definitely past it whenever I watch him on the international stage.

They’re currently operating at what for 99.9% of all other sports clubs would be classified as “cease to exist” levels of financial negligence.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostBottom two pics look like an airportMarc Augé, Non-Places: Introduction to an Anthropology of Supermodernity:
Alone, but one of many, the user of a non-place is in contractual relations with it (or with the powers that govern it). He is reminded, when necessary, that the contract exists. One element in this is the way the non-place is to be used: the ticket he has bought, the card he will have to show at the tollbooth, even the trolley he trundles round the supermarket are all more or less clear signs of it.
[…]
[A] person entering the space of non-place is relieved of his usual determinants. He becomes no more than what he does or experiences in the role of passenger, customer, or driver. Perhaps he is still weighed down by the previous day's worries, the next day's concerns; but he is distanced from them temporarily by the environment of the moment. Subjected to a gentle form of possession, to which he surrenders himself with more or less talent or conviction, he tastes for a while - like anyone who is possessed - the passive joys of identity-loss, and the more active pleasure of role-playing.
