By Coldnoodle Go To Postwe've scored an exact replica of this goal, complete with the dummy
AND RONALDO IS RAMPANT NOW
except Matri was the one who scored it I think, or Marchisio?
By L1NETT Go To Postsafe standing back, redo FFP, english player quotas, force ticket prices down to let actual working class families in, nuke wembley (the surrounding area too), semis at Villa Park and finals at the Millennium, no friday/monday night pish, saturday games a couple on sunday if yer lucky, salary caps, max number of loans one club can do, no buying youth players before 18 and some other stuff
oh and relegate man city and chelsea for the chuckles
no

By Laboured Go To PostYa, but there's plenty of players that go through those phases but because they're physically/mentally incapable they can't maintain. He ruptured his knee tendon twice and was still one of the best forwards in the World afterwards.
And that's what I mean. Sure he had his great moments, but his inability to remain the best despite what happened to him (or indeed in spite of the great conditions he was granted) is utterly an indictment on his overall ability.
By Yurt Go To Postyou guys are weird, English isnt my mother tongue and I totally get everything he posts

It was well said.

Ronaldo was only good for a couple of seasons, three at best.
I'm sorry he got fat and injured, but he aint no GOAT
By rvy Go To PostHe ruptured his knee tendon twice and was still one of the best forwards in the World afterwards.Even then he was never even close to CRonaldo/Messi, in pretty much any metric, before or after injury.

Ronaldo was only good for a couple of seasons, three at best.
Because he was only the best player on the planet for 3/4 years.

i'll allow some premanoid monday night footy to maximise international exposure or whatever corporate wank scudamore would shit out in between lines and lying.
but for the lower leagues friday/monday is just awful. Plymouth fans trekking across the country just for the TV execs wallet. not avin it.
But anywhere bar Wembley is good. Hell have them at the Emirates if you are allergic to Wales.
By Vivalabanter Go To PostRonaldo was pretty good.
He is one of only four players to have won the FIFA World Player of the Year award three times or more, along with Zinedine Zidane, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
RONALDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
By rvy Go To PostSo what we're saying here is that Ronaldinho is also just good, right?C'mon Ronaldhinho at his peak was also excellent, but when you really look at it, his and Ronaldo's achievements are pretty poultry compared to CRonaldo/Messi, like in an almost disappointing way.
Because he was only the best player on the planet for 3/4 years.
By Laboured Go To PostEven then he was never even close to CRonaldo/Messi, in pretty much any metric, before or after injury.I disagree. I rate Prime Ronaldo higher than Cristiana, even if he had 3/4 great seasons.
Numbers are impressive, but I'm much more interested in how entertaining/creative/technically gifted a football player is rather than how many goals he scores.
By Laboured Go To PostC'mon Ronaldhinho at his peak was also excellent, but when you really look at it, his and Ronaldo's achievements are pretty poultry compared to CRonaldo/Messi, like in an almost disappointing way.See above.
What impresses me about Messi aren't his achievements and stats. Couldn't give two shits about them.
Messi could probably be the most technically gifted and intelligent player that's ever existed. That's what impresses me.
Ronaldo was good for longer than just 3 years.
His first 4 years in Europe were really really good. He was one of the best players in the world at that time. And his season at Barca is up there with what Messi has done.
Then at Real, whilst he wasn't the same player, he did manage to score 20+ league goals in his first three years. Hard to say that isn't "good".
He had a good 6/7 years in his career, definitely. And 2 good world cups.
And his knee went twice.
Pretty impressive.

By rvy Go To PostI disagree. I rate Prime Ronaldo higher than Cristiana, even if he had 3/4 great seasons.Even on an artistic level I don't think fat Ronaldo compares, even though I loved his style as a striker.
Numbers are impressive, but I'm much more interested in how entertaining/creative/technically gifted a football player is rather than how many goals he scores.
Ronaldinho I'd be willing to compare though. That guy played competitive football like a Harlem Globetrotters game and still fucking destroyed teams for fun.
OG Ronaldo was much more entertaining to watch than Cristiano Ronaldo. Fuck, I loved watching him so much I followed the teams he played for. I don't even watch Barca for Messi.
Ronaldo and Ronaldinho made football fun.
Cristiana is a boring ass stats machine.
As a player I found him much more impressive at United than ever since he left.
Messi makes football fun.

C Ron has been boring since he left for Madrid.
You're right about Dinho though. He was taking the piss in CL semis and shit.

Cristina is the most boring 'goat' I have ever seen with my one eyes
was genuinely more impressed with Falcao's run and Costa's bullying shenanigans that day
just fucking nothing of a player on the pitch. He'll score loads though, but don't expect 'magic' or entertainment unless you're a Madrid fan. And God help you, if you're, because real magic is not that far off in Spain, and you'll be stuck here watching this shitboy stats padding

And when I say he's boring I'm not talking about him not doing step-overs and shit like that. He's just a boring player to watch these days. Not creative at all. His entire game revolves around finding open spaces to sprint into and scoring goals. He was never the most creative either, but he was enjoyable to watch at United.
Then the genius from the favela upbringing kicked into overdrive and he got fat, lazy and sad.
You could still see flashes of brilliance, but in terms of fitness he was just shit.

Watch (fat) Ronaldo's goals again.

They're lovely but they're all goals that CRonaldo/Messi have both probably scored equivalents many times over.
And this is what I'll come back to - CRonaldo/Messi have completely desensitised us.

I hope no one posts a GIF of Chelsea's terrible defending again
it was more Chelsea being terrible than Dinho magic. He scored way way better goals
like....off the top of my head of course and not something I have framed on my door or anything.. the freekick on England!

Watching Ronaldo live at United was amazing. He always had a great presence on the pitch. And you got really got a sense of his physical gifts too. He just seemed to be faster and stronger than all the other players out there.
But yes, he has very rarely been breathtaking. There's very few times that C Ronaldo ever does something and you just can't understand how;

He just doesn't impress me. He bores me.
Hell, I probably rate João Pinto higher than Cristiana.
Cristiana would melt under the pressure of playing for the title in the opponent's home against a loaded team with Figo, Paulo Sousa and a bunch of other dipshits.
When is the last time you saw Cristiana put a team on his back and carry them to a major victory? All I see are his impressive stats. Messi does it. Dinho did it.
Cristiano has become a machine, scoring boring tap ins and efficient headers (now his strongest aspect imo). I miss the amazing screamers he would score for United, or him just fucking about on the wing.
Dinho was always more about having 2/3 guys on him and him fooling around dropping them like flies with his perfect ball control. Such a joy to watch.
Fatnaldo was pretty fun to watch too. He had a cadence that has been missing from Brazilians for a pretty long time now.

Thankfully Messi marries the efficiency of Ronaldo with a lot of the magic Ronaldinho had. Certainly doesn't display the skill as often as Ronnie did, but still just a delight to watch.

please dont compare cristina to the real ronaldo, he aint no where near the same level and never will be. i dont care how many tapins/pens/deflected fk he scores, he is all hype. even at utd he was nothing special, he is king of doing step overs and running towards the corner flag
oh sorry I'm too out of it to read properly
Caravalho gave him too much space there, watching him literally stand around for a few secs this close to the goal with the ball at his feet is terrible defending first and foremost

By Yurt Go To Postoh sorry I'm too out of it to read properlySuper easy to say unless you consider they're playing Barca at Camp Nou, they've been well-preped and trained by Mou and if you watch the footage there's a multitude of movement happening behind the primary defender.
