Interested to see how he does in Europe. He will have a lot to learn but could be a little gem.
He is supposed to arrive in January.
By cashman Go To PostWho knows tbh, it will be measured in signings and results but doesn't have to be negative.
Not great
Probably the best visual representation of where United are with regards to coaching. Our passes are mostly side to side, with very little progression through midfield and no width on the right. Very much points towards the players not being given a framework of how to play and instead just being told to give it a lash. Pure vibes, if you want.
Citys is so clearly predefined and choreographed with width on both sides, vertical progression up the pitch and many passing patterns that show how many different players got the ball in advantageous areas.
Guardiola is an ideologue and to the extreme end of tactics and prescription to a game plan. United doesn't necessarily need as drastic a shift to a Guardiola style. But a coach with some basic idea of shape and how to develop playing patterns to give our players genuine passing options is desperately needed.

The ridiculous Cartão do Adepto (supporters card) has been revoked by the Portuguese parliament.
If you had watched any match from the Portuguese league this season and noticed a part of stand that was completely empty, the reason was that stupid card.
The Portuguese FA reserved a part of the stand in every stadium that's usually used by the ultras for people who had the card which had a cost of 20€ every 3 years.
That stupid idea actually end up turning into something that seemed impossible, it united supporters of every club as everyone was against it.
After the constant protests, it was voted on parliament today and it was revoked without a single vote to keep it.

i remember when the sauces from jol's time were deemed too fattening/unhealthy after he was let go.
We'd earmarked Henderson as our De Gea successor last season and we're working towards him eventually taking over. That's clearly been thrown out the window this season tho. I've no idea what Solksjaer is doing anymore.

By bud Go To Postsaw this on youtube and thought of you:Ohh man thanks for posting this, I just finished watching it. These guys are an incredible band, their songs take me through an emotional rollercoaster, all the feelings all at the same time.
Thinking Of A Place is one of my favourite songs but think everything else I've heard from them is kinda bad. Ah well.
Thinking of a place is my favorite song without a doubt, that song is just a wonderful journey. I also like Red eyes, Under pressure and the recently released I don't live here anymore.
I love everything from TWOD
On Michael Edwards, his open letter is incredibly candid and worth a read for anyone following Liverpool. He’s been a big player behind the scenes for years and almost never spoke a word in public. I wonder where he’ll start work next. Given that he was director during such a successful period you’d have to imagine that many a club would be interested in his signature

Isn't good enough imo
Henderson has lost his international place to Ramsdale as well, hasn't he?
It's hard being a (relatively) decent second keeper.
He's not going to replace De Gea, who is only 31, and isn't going to go to the World Cup at the stage either. Big wages too iirc. Life on the bench, innit.

Now if Lampard gets Norwich…
Hopefully if it happens we can put the "But can they manage in the same league!? 😂" jokes in the bin ASAP.
Risky move. Gerrard’s done a very good job at Rangers but absolutely fucked it in cups against far weaker opponents constantly. I hope he does well enough, need some young British talent because Germany hace all the fuckers, but I don’t see him being the man to push them into a top 6 or so.
all i know is gerrard > eddie howe >> lampard
although it seems to be gerrard's assistant/staff that gets most of the praise
but i'd be shocked if gerrard even gets villa in the race for top 6

Aye, Rangers job is basically a championship level job. Big step up to the PL. Look at what Neil Lennon won in Scotland as manager compared to his disaster job at Bolton....
Gerrard won't get Villa into the top 6 because there is just way too much competition. Aside from the settled top 4, you've got Newcastle able to outspend everyone and Spurs and Arsenal still a long way ahead. Villa have wealthy owners, but only enough to place them alongside Spurs or Arsenal.
Then you've got the other managers chasing those spots: Conte, Rodgers, Bielsa, Benitez, Potter, Hassenhuttl. A lot of top managers, most of whom won't get close. Gerrard would need to be a genius level manager and get lucky with his signings to have a hope

Baptism of fire for Gerrard.
Like sohois said, hard to see what success is for Villa.
One wrong move and he's exiled beyond the wall again to Scotland.

By heavyssandvich Go To PostSuccess for Villa this season is staying up/mid table.
Na fam, they finished 11th last season and spent 90 million in the summer
You can get away with tactical errors and picking bad XIs when playing Livingston and Dundee everyweek.
Lad is gonna get absolutely smoked in the PL. Be amazed if he's there at end of season tbf

Villa’s owners are mega rich aren’t they? Biggest issue for all these owners is, as sohois says, competition.
There are four clubs who absolutely expect CL football every year, two who nigh-on expect it, and then Leicester and West Ham with something to build on, Newcastle as the upstarts… there’ll come a time when Leicester fans or Rodgers get bored with finishing 5-7th every year, as mad as that sounds. Remember Villa under MON. Sixth a few times in a row but that wasn’t good enough.
