By Frustrated_me Go To PostI watched until mid second half, the team looked woeful. Ronaldo was really the only one gesturing and encouraging the team to do something, anything - especially move up the pitch to play in the opponents half, instead of defending yet trailing by a goal.
I don't see how this current United team would look better without Ronaldo (or a similar player saving their ass with goals).
Did you just use the Ronaldo pointing meme to support him?
As others have said, maybe no Ronaldo would have allowed United to play Sancho and Greenwood more, who would allow more players to be involved.
Juve were always at our best when we had midfield runners getting into the box and contributing. When Ronaldo came, the focus shifted to getting him the ball, and the team as a whole was worse.

The point I was making in my previous post is that even if it was a meme, nobody else looked up for it. This current United team would certainly not be better without a goal scorer.

It's simple really: United are better with Ronaldo but United would also be better without Ronaldo. Stop overcomplicating it.
At 36, absolutely, he'll have deficiencies to his game. But it doesn't have to be a zero sum.
I want to see him in this team under a proper manger with a plan.
9 goals in 11, hell of a problem to have.

Some good-ass management. Not surprised Bailly lost his shit at Ole.
Bet he's done the same to Varane too.

But if United were to play Sancho and Greenwood more then the team will be better as an attacking force because those two are better IMO at getting others involved in the play.
United’s issues run deeper than Ronaldo, but he adds massively to them because you can’t drop him and you got to pay him massive wages. Ronaldo is one dimensional, he gets his goals, but he stops others getting theirs.
Juve have at times looked outright dog shite this season, but the second half against Zenit last night was fun as hell. Chiesa, Morata, and Dybala were all enjoying themselves and Locatelli is showing signs of genius.
Juve are still burdened by the Ronaldo signing due to the massive wages and only just getting him off the books (I personally believe Gigi Donnarumma would be at Juve if they had the cash for his wages earlier in the summer), but Max will turn things around on the pitch. I think Juve were in a similar position in the standings in Max’s second season at Juve, so not panicking yet.

We will have to judge Juve when the season ends, I would agree that it's too soon to make any comparisons just yet.
Lots of players carry various knocks and minor injuries into games. But United seem to take that to the extreme. In the last two years Rashford has played with a back injury which eventually led to a stress fracture, a shoulder ligament injury and an ankle ligament injury.
Either Solksjaer doesn't have faith in his wider squad, or his tactics are so one dimensional that he can't adapt them in the event that one of his regulars gets hurt, so he just keeps selecting the regular even when they're not fully fit.

I like to joke about the bundasliga, but Sancho is not going to be a dud. Players like him require constant playing time with those around him to know their movements and where they like the ball.
I said during the Euros, Sancho is the most talented young English player since Rooney that I have seen.
He will come good when Oli comes to his senses.
By Frustrated_me Go To PostHow do you know this? Based on what evidence? Everything suggests Sancho has been a dud so far.Sancho has barely played, he's ina poorly coached side with poor gameplan and tactics, we haven't seen anything close to what he can do.

We have seen nothing to suggest he's a dud.
Varane has only kept one clean sheet since he's been here.
Some of you lot need to zoom out.
By Laboured Go To PostIt's the second thing, Cleff. Pls it is too late in the game for long form rhetorical questions.Like, I want to give him the benefit of the doubt because he's done some good at the club as manager. But it's pretty obvious now that he's a one note manager who can't coach at a top level.
But rushing back players from injury is such a Mourinho thing to do. I fucking hate that.
its quite simple really
1) stop being shit at defending
2) play ronaldo
3) ????

I didn't think we would be sitting in November with Sancho having no goals or assists.
Not seen any good explanation for why our entire team is playing worse compared to last season across the fucking board.
By Frustrated_me Go To PostDoes this role require clapping?Yes, of course. What is a manager without clapping?
By Laboured Go To PostNot seen any good explanation for why our entire team is playing worse compared to last season across the fucking board.last season most teams were playing worse without fans because they couldnt give a shit, now theyre back and they have the fire again
By Laboured Go To PostNot seen any good explanation for why our entire team is playing worse compared to last season across the fucking board.Vibes are too harsh rn. Just need to get some proper tunes in the changing room and the bantz and good vibes will follow.
I don't think you need me to mention that statistically United overperformed quite a bit last season. They are not underperforming this season either, they have simply returned to their expected level

are they really, though?
i don't see as many united games as you lads, but it seems to me that the difference seems to be in the results rather than the actual performances.
Other teams know how to explore the side’s weaknesses a lot better also.
Bud is right though, the performances have been awful for quite awhile.

Yup, all you gotta do is watch the tapes.
Our manager plays the same guys in the same system game after game.
It's not hard. He's got no surprises up his sleeve.

I think regression to the mean probably best explains it (As far as I've seen), and is even further damning of Ole.
By Andrew Go To PostLaboured, not to meme, but could you say the difference is… no penalties?
I don't know if we're even getting into the penalty area as much though. Doesn't feel like it anyways.
ah thats the ticket, you have yet to unlock Penaldo's final form
once that happens Ole will wheel you straight to the moon 🌜

By Frustrated_me Go To PostIt was very evident to me that Varane was not 100% fit yesterday.Maybe.
Seems that this latest injury is to his hamstring rather than his groin which he pulled last month. He looked fine against Spurs last weekend.

Seen Porto's goal on the 5th minute against Milan. And that is the team that's joint leaders with Inter???

I wonder if this is 100% on terrible coaching or the medical department chipping in.
By Frustrated_me Go To Post1-1I had to check 3 times if it was the same Fernando that was loaned to us. Real Madrid are truly shit if that guy scores against you lot.
That was coming for so long, we just sat back after leading 1-0 lol
