The focus is on Ronaldo, but what has happened to Maguire?
Tempted to think that it’s a combination of a Euros hangover & not fully fit (plus no support from players in front), but he’s putting in awful performances in every single week. Like, outrageously bad despite being the captain/undroppable.
Should really be seeing Bailey/Varane/Lindalof combinations at this point. Fuck, even summon the ghost of Phil Jones to put some pressure on.

It’s arguing Ronaldo is symbolic of a larger malaise. Which he is.
^ would be more than happy to see Maguire dropped but Ole is too pussy to do so.

blaming the cowardice and ineptitude of the manager on Ronaldo is just reaching at this point.
Like Scently said, City wanted him to be a focal point because the team is good enough and well-coached enough to adapt and service.
The whole "pressing thing" became conveniently vogue all of a sudden when its something we've never really done with any sort of consistency.
Anyone with a pair of eyes and two brain cells to rub together can see Harry is not fit.
Paulo Bernardo, a young kid who never starts for internal competitions, is already the Bernardo with most CL games for Benfica.
Thanks Geriatric George. Thank Christ Silva didn't put up with your shit and accept being tuned into a full back.

By Willkiller Go To PostSounds like Emery will say no, which I fully expected…we're just too far gone in the league now. Will mean Howe, which I didn't want (I'd have no problem with it if we weren't 19th) but I don't think it's a bad appointment. With Emery I think we'd have been 50/50 to go down, with Howe it remains about 70/30.
Cheers to Big Mike and Steve once again.
I think Howe would be a very poor fit for that group of players.
By n8 dogg Go To PostLol, his lack of pressing absolutely would have been an issue at City.
And how is it a silly article when you have basically posted verbatim what the article says?
Are you saying CR7 won’t run like Bernardo, Foden and Jesus?
The problems are the same as last season, and everybody who said UTD main’s priority had to be Sancho got what they asked for.
A CB was essential, a CDM and a striker. Can’t have Fernandes be our main goal scorer and assists provider, defense was shambolic and midfield very brittle.
But no, let’s pay 90 mill for a RW who maybe is better on the left or actually maybe just a wide playmaker, or probably just a hope.

Yeah sounds like we briefed yesterday that is was imminent....but it wasn't? Which they surely knew....so why brief?! Something doesn't really make a lot of sense.

Sancho and Grealish definitely feel like signings to solve problems that either didnt exist or weren't a priority for the development of their team.
Not that either of them are bad signings, mind. Grealish has been fine and I'm sure Sancho will eventually come good.
Sancho will end up like Jovic, on the bench and back to Bundeslol in a few years.
I kid, I have no idea what'll happen to Sancho. Jovic is not making it though.

sancho won't make it. that is a certainty.
several parameters come into play here, but the most important one of them all is the x factor. which he lacks completely.
it's over.
Chong picked up a pretty serious injury with Birmingham. Loan has been cancelled and he's gone back to United for his rehab. Shame too as he was playing quite well for them.
I don’t understand why Ronaldo can’t be both a great goal scorer and a problematic element to the team. N8 has always indicated that he expected Ronaldo to get the numbers, but that his presence would be a hindrance for building a team around the young talent at Ole’s disposal, and I think that’s exactly what you’re seeing.
The two factors aren’t mutually exclusive. Ronaldo is worse for Man Utd because he has to play every game and restricts what kind the team can do. He also is an incredible footballer who can carry the team through his goalscoring ability.
Also he’s a rapist.

I think Ronaldo has improved his all round output in the last couple of games, but otherwise yeah we've had this before with Rooney at the end of his career where he was happily stat padding but it was at times to the detriment of the overall team output and structure. This is nothing new.
By Oddinho Go To PostAlso he’s a rapist.Say her name friend.
Sancho will make it because he cost £75m and he's English.
He won't be van de Beek'd because the media and fans would be relentless - irrespective of quality, or lack thereof.

Sancho will be fine. But it will probably be under a different United manager. Olé is fighting for his job and won't risk throwing in a player who hasn't hit the ground running.
Sancho got thrown straight in the team and did fuck all for weeks. There’s nothing to be aggrieved about with him. He can earn his way back into the first XI

Hard to say, they obviously briefed that he was their number 1 choice after the interview process, DM ran with it and said we'd have it done by tomorrow(lol) the more reliable sources like George Caulkin stated he was number 1 target but there was still plenty to do in any potential deal.
Whatever. Was going to be a very hard sell where we are right now, have to move on quick. If Howe is the only candidate left, we just have to get him in ASAP because Jones is no manager and we need points yesterday
Wonder if it would benefit Newcastle more in the long run to go down to the Championship.
Relying on a January window, which is hard at the best of times, and a 6th/7th/8th managerial candidate is some challenge for a well run club (not Newcastle).

The thing is that the only thing people have to say about it is that he doesn’t press well. Which is a bit of a mind fuck when you consider the whole team doesn’t press well.
Without Ronaldo we would be having the same exact conversations about the team except there would be no media narrative built around clicks.
But sure let the kids play, its FM. Martial is gonna be amazing, Pogba will get it right, and Sancho is going to take the team to the next level.

By bud Go To Postgasperini has created such a fun team.
deserves lad status.
would be big name if it hadn't been for atalanta being a small club in a small league.
Gasperini earned lad status back at Genoa in the late 00s.
But he did lose it at Inter.
Allegri
Mancini
Spalletti
Gasperini
Sarri
Ancelotti
Conte
Inzaghi, Simone
De Zerbi
How can one country produce that many top managers.

Spot on.
Ronaldo was a great scorer for Juve but made the team worse. Way too one dimensional, took the ball away from one of the greatest free kick takers ever, and cost a shit load that meant other areas could not be strengthened.

lad... you're one of the richest clubs in the world. you have officially lost the right to worry again. ever.
even if you do relegate, you'll go back up again quickly.
you'll have a world class manager within a year or two.
it's only a matter of time before you start winning trophies.

By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostOnly highlights.I watched until mid second half, the team looked woeful. Ronaldo was really the only one gesturing and encouraging the team to do something, anything - especially move up the pitch to play in the opponents half, instead of defending yet trailing by a goal.
I don't see how this current United team would look better without Ronaldo (or a similar player saving their ass with goals).
By Cleff Go To PostI had forgotten about this.He got the idea after watching a Senegal-Poland match.
That's a no for Larry White on possible United coach.
Lads Ronaldo is definitely a problem. He's just not the biggest one. One thing that bothers me about him is that he's incredibly indisciplined when it comes to staying in position. He floats about the front line, often leaving us with no striker in the box. It disrupts anything we try and build.
He's incredibly talented so will bail us out of predicaments we're in. But there's a valid arguement to be made that we wouldn't be in those positions if he actually stayed where he's supposed to.
